Ford puma front bumper paint repair in Lucid Red Pearl and a colour blend into the wing. Lucid red is a three-stage paint system requiring a solid undercoat or primer often grey or white for reds. Stage one a pearl base coat. Stage two a translucent tinted red coat for depth, and a final clear coat for protection.
Paint Stages Explained
Stage one - A pearlized red base coat that provides the primary shade is sprayed with careful attention to a even application with a soft edge blend. A soft edge blend of stage one will assist the blending and coverage of stage two.
Stage two - This is the key stage, consisting of a translucent coat mixed with red pearl pigments that creates the shimmering effect. It's applied in multiple layers to build and achieve depth with the number of coats determined by checking small spray test panels done prior to painting. Creating spray test panels with different numbers of pearl coats is crucial to find the exact match for blending.
Clear coat - A standard topcoat, often a 2K clear coat for durability is applied over the pearl layers to add more depth, protection, and a high-gloss finish also providing material for sanding and polishing if needed.
