Let's bust some lubrication myths… 🛢️
There are plenty of misconceptions when it comes to industrial lubrication. Here are three we hear regularly:
❌ MYTH 1: More lubricant means better lubrication.
Not necessarily. Over-lubrication can attract contamination, create excess heat and, depending on the application, negatively affect equipment performance.
❌ MYTH 2: All lubricants are basically the same.
Different applications require different lubricant properties. Temperature, load, speed, environment and equipment design all need to be considered.
❌ MYTH 3: If the equipment is still running, the lubrication must be working.
Equipment can continue operating while wear and lubrication issues are developing. Waiting for a failure can turn a small maintenance issue into costly downtime.
Good lubrication isn't about using more. It's about using the right lubricant, in the right application, at the right time.
