The Tour of Epynt is the long running event that has not changed name or location for many a year. It is based from the small town of Llandovrey, with Rally HQ at The Castle Hotel. The event takes place however a few miles away on the army ranges of Epynt. With multiple miles of pristine tarmac and too many challenging jumps, corners and crests to name, its no wonder that it attracts the who's who
of tarmac rallying and is the opening round of the 2012 REIS MSA Asphalt Championship. The Pro Art Signs Swansea Bay Rally however has taken many guises over the years, from the Peter Russek Rally, to the Kayel Graphics, but it has never left its routes in being a top class gravel event in the Neath and Swansea Valleys. The rally has recently moved base to use the Village Hotel Swansea as Rally HQ, yet keeping a compact route that encompasses the fine forest roads of complexes such as Rhondda and Rheola, that became famous for its uses in Wales Rally GB. The club also holds regular autotests at the grounds of dis used colliery, and museum Cefn Coed, near Crynant. With all courses being set out to encompass driving skill at speed, and in tight and tricky sections such as hairpins, multiple gates and garages, the events are designed to introduce people to motorsport in an affordable way. Anyone older than 14 may enter however those without a license must have someone who does as a passenger. It is usually £10 to enter with Club membership required, at an extra £10 for the whole year. It is a great place to learn about motorsport and meet all types of competitors, from your average joe, having a go in a standard road car, or seasoned regulars and competitors at higher levels bringing their rally cars for a go.
