**** 2021 CHRISTMAS TOY COLLECTION *******
I'm sorry for the slightly late post this year. Becky will be organising this collection again for Christmas, all info is below but if you need to know anything please don't hesitate to get in touch with us,
As those who have donated so kindly in the past know, Becky needs to try and have most of the toys/games/gifts on the ward as early as possible. Also this year she will need to have everything with the ward at least a week before Christmas for quarantine reasons.
If you can and wish to help, she doesn't ask for much, a colouring book, a pack of pens, a game, a teddy bear, toy cars, a couple of DVD's for the TV room all the children share... They all add up one by one and if you could spare one of these we know Santa will make sure it arrives on time and to the right little boy or girl. We also have teenagers on the ward (the ages range from a few days up to 17) so donations of smellys, gifts sets, nail varnish etc is all appreciated, the collection can also accept selection boxes.
Everything must be ** NEW AND UNOPENED ** please, this is to prevent the spread / introduction of any kind of infection on the wards.
Soft toys and playdoh are accepted, but will be given out to the children at the Christmas party who are lucky enough to be going home for the celebrations. Becky DOES NOT accept any monetary donations, the gifts mean more when chosen by you and donated by you. Santa visits the ward on Christmas eve just in case anyone wakes up, and pops a present on each bed for the morning. Please DO NOT WRAP any of the donations as the staff must check them for safety marks and regulation marks, plus they can tell Santa which toy suits which child best. I am happy to drive to collect any donations if required, All gifts can be dropped off at SVS during working hours.
This is not for Glasgow sick kids hospital, but for the local Childrens ward at Wishaw. This ward is also open over the festive period and many of the children are unable to go home. The idea of the collection is to bring some magic to them and their families because between parents traveling & other children at home it can be difficult for them to make the magic happen. Many are stretched and trying to hold down jobs, home life and then being with their kids at the hospital. So between our wonderful clients, many friends & myself over the last 5 years Santa has always managed to bring each of them a special unexpected gift or a toy to open and this has grown from year to year. This couldn't happen each year without the amazing people who donate toys, games, DVD's etc and it could never happen without you all.
If anyone has any questions please give us a shout. The ward, the nurses, the families and the children appreciate every surprise.. and this is what Christmas is truly about... giving a smile, a lift, hope, love and magic to the families and children who need it.
Thank you so much.
