This week we’ve been to the TyreSafe 20th anniversary annual briefing and gala dinner.
It was great to get glammed up, catch up with contacts in the industry and meet some new.

As an independent, it’s really important to us to attend events like this and it was lovely to all get to go to this one together! 🌟🛞

We are off to the annual TyreSafe briefing today; The 20th anniversary.

This is one event that I’ve been to numerous times and is always full of information thanks to the jam packed line up of speakers. We hear about key research insights, campaign previews and the latest developments.
Keeping our tyre safety knowledge fresh is important to us, as well as supporting the Tyresafe message.

This vehicle came in for a brake check, due to the customer hearing a squealing noise when braking.

Our tech found that the pads were low and ready to be changed.
The edges of the pad were slightly shiny, which is a good indication that it was scraping on the discs. This is more than likely due to corrosion on the discs or the discs being worn down to a point that it has a ‘lip’ on causing it to cut into the brake pad material.

Our mission statement is that we are a female friendly business who support our local community, and different requests from our customers last week showed we are just that! 🥰🌟

One customer’s husband is in hospital with a breathing mask on and he was struggling to wear his glasses with the mask. She called in to see if we could help and cut his glasses in half, then he could wear them around the mask.
She’d tried to do it at home and hadn’t got anything strong enough to cut them.
Michael got straight on the task, Graham tested them- or one of them- and the customer left happy 😊 (Obviously no charge).

THEN, an hour or so later, this customer called in asking if we could blow up their paddling pool 🤣 They also said, and I quote, ‘what other tyre place could you pull in and ask this, they’d laugh at you’!!

We don’t take on handyman jobs usually but we’re always happy to help if we can. 👍🏼

Recently there has been lots of pothole fixing activity locally, and the Pothole Patrol have been too busy to get out and about BUT we are very much still active!!! (Read on to find out our next steps!!)

Last week we headed back to one of the worst potholes we’d seen; Fairfield/ Westminster Road and had a look at a longer stretch of Fairfield.
Some temporary fixes had been done but more potholes were found and reported, along with noting most of the road was a cause for concern.
We also spoke to a local resident who is really frustrated with the situation and having to take a different route to get home.

So, our next steps…!
We will be continuing with Pothole Patrol but extending this to cover all road safety concerns; Uneven pavements, missing road signage - Anything that’s a concern, let us know and we’ll see what we can do to get it fixed.

The Pothole Patrol are currently at the UK Garage and Bodyshop event waiting to do talk 2 of 3 today but our phones are BLOWING OFF THE HOOK 🤣🤣 because apparently they are filling in the huge pothole on the roundabout at the end of the bypass!!!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🎉🎉

🚗 Rear brake service 🚗

This customer brought their vehicle in when their on board computer said there was 100 miles left on brakes pads.
When our tech disassembled the rear brakes, he found the pad wear sensor was worn through to the wire.
We recommended and fitted discs and pads and reset the service lights.

Myself and Sophie are heading down to Birmingham for a few days to the Uk Garage and Bodyshop Event, where we will both be doing talks/ live q&a’s - Sophie about her favourite topic; Tyres 🤪 and myself about my speciality; Social Media/ Marketing!!
