Here's the story of how we started 40 years ago...
Neil Arnold didn’t set out to run his own garage—he was forced into it by necessity. As a young carpentry apprentice, he had to make a tough decision when his first child was born. Unable to afford to continue his training, he took a job at a local garage, learning the trade from the ground up. But when that business suddenly closed, Neil found himself out of work and facing an uncertain future.
With little more than determination and a handful of borrowed cash, he salvaged tools from a skip, rolled up his sleeves, and reopened the garage under his own name. In the early days, work was scarce, but Neil’s commitment to fast turnaround times made him invaluable to local building sites. His ability to respond at short notice kept him afloat, and over time, his reputation grew.
After 20 years of relentless effort, Neil had built a stable business with a solid customer base and his first employee. Then came 2008. While the financial crisis forced competitors like ATS to shut their doors, Neil saw an opportunity. With their Minehead branch closing, he seized the chance to expand, moving the business into a larger premises.
Fast forward to today, and the business has continued to grow under the leadership of Neil’s son, Stephen, who returned from Australia to oversee his father’s retirement and drive the company forward. Now, with a team of 14 skilled professionals, over 1,000 tyres fitted every month, and 400 mechanical hours logged, the business has gone from survival to success. For five consecutive years, we’ve seen 25% growth in total sales—and we’re just getting started.
At our core, we’re still the same family-run garage that Neil built from nothing—driven by hard work, honest service, and a commitment to keeping our customers moving.
