ON OF LESSONS
Standard lessons last 90minutes unless otherwise agreed. It will be assumed when booking that your start and finish point is the normal one unless you advise the instructor otherwise. Please advise your instructor 24 hours before your lesson if your pick up or drop off point is going to be different. This may also result in your lesson time having to be shortened to avoid disruption to other pupils. If you are not at the pick-up location within 10 minutes of the start of your lesson, the Instructor will not wait any longer, but the lesson fee must still be paid. CANCELLATION
Please give as much notice as possible as this minimises disruption to the instructor and makes the lesson space available for other pupils. Remember too that missing lessons will slow down your progress in learning to drive and you may lose your regular lesson slot. The following will apply for cancelled lessons:

Failure to attend – full lesson price. Less than 24 hours’ notice of cancellation – full lesson price. The instructor reserves the right to cancel the lesson due to bad weather, mechanical breakdown of the vehicle or any other reasonable cause. If there is bad weather you should assume that the lesson will continue unless the instructor contacts you. It is your responsibility to ensure that the instructor is aware of your current phone number. It is possible that due to traffic conditions, your instructor may be late for your lesson. If they expect to be more than 10 minutes late they will endeavour to contact you. If the instructor is late you will still get the full hour tuition agreed. COURSES
You will be given a structured course of lessons, tailored to your individual needs. Our aim is to help you to be a good, safe driver and to pass your test. Please do not book your test until your Instructor feels you are ready. The DVSA requires that Instructors do not allow people to sit the test if they are not ready for it. PUPIL RESPONSIBILITIES
You may not have lessons while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. You must advise your instructor of any points on your licence or pending court cases. If you need glasses or contact lenses you must make sure that you wear them. If you have any special needs that may affect your driving or your learning, please advise your instructor. DRIVING TESTS
When you book your test, please book for Bletchley Test Centre and quote ADI Number 745733 Failure to do so may mean that your test needs to be rescheduled. In addition to the Driving Test Fee you will need to pay £ 50 on the day to your Instructor for use of the car. This covers a half hour lesson before arriving at the test centre. When you have booked please print your booking confirmation and bring it to your next lesson or email it to [email protected]

If the test is cancelled at short notice by the DVSA for reasons other than adverse weather, the full £50 is payable. This is normally reclaimable by the pupil from the DSA. It is the pupil’s responsibility to ensure that in the event of bad weather, they call the test centre to find out if the test is going ahead. FacebookEmailTwitterShare

Signals warn and inform other road users of your intended actions. 🚗

You should always:

- give clear signals in plenty of time
- use them before changing course
- cancel them after use
- make sure your signals aren’t confusing
- use an arm signal to emphasise or reinforce your signal if necessary

As well as paying attention to your own signals, you should watch out for those given by other road users and only proceed when you are satisfied that it is safe.

Be aware that an indicator on another vehicle may not have been cancelled. 🛣️

New theory test questions aim to boost cardiac arrest survival
DVSA has updated the car and motorcycle theory test to include questions on CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and how to use an automatic external defibrillator (AED).

The new questions will be introduced in tests from next year to give your pupils with theory tests booked time to learn the new content.

This initiative, in collaboration with leading heart health programmes and NHS organisations across the UK, aims to raise awareness and equip drivers with these life-saving skills.

Over 40,000 people experience heart events yearly, and cardiac arrests that happen outside of hospitals have a survival rate of less that 1 on 10. Drivers are often first on the scene in an emergency.

With effective CPR and defibrillator use, survival rates could increase to 70%.

Are you resus ready?
It’s not just your pupils we are encouraging to learn these lifesaving skills – they are important for everyone to know.

We have worked with the Save a Life organisations in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and Resuscitation Council UK to support you to learn these crucial skills.

If you have learnt the basics already it’s never too early to do a refresher course. You can find free online CPR courses and resources on our dedicated page on GOV.UK.

First aid and CPR courses also count towards you continuing professional development, so make sure you log any training you do.

Updating learning materials
Our official learning resources have already been updated to include the new learning materials.

Updated print copies of essential skills for driving and riding are already available through shops and online retailers. Our official learning app also has the new content added in.

All of the updated learning materials are available from the Safe Driving for Life website.

❓ Would you know what to do if your caravan or trailer began snaking?
😟 If you can’t get snaking under control, you will could control of the situation and risk the caravan or trailer over turning.
You should:
✅ Distribute weight as evenly as possible.
✅ Ease off the accelerator slowly
✅Reduce your speed gradually until the snaking stops.
Once under control, remain at a safe speed to prevent it happening again.
Keep yourself, passengers and other road users safe by getting some towing training!

We’ve been having some great weather recently up and down Great Britain.☀️

When it’s bright and clear, you can wear sunglasses at your driving test.😎

They may help you focus on your surroundings and concentrate better when you’re driving!

Need assistance with passing your driving test if you are deaf or have a hearing impairment?

This Deaf Awareness Week, we’d like to remind you about our driver support pack which can help learner drivers.

Prompt cards give short written instructions and diagrams so learners know what they need to do. The examiner will not use the cards when the car is moving. 🙂‍↔️

Learners can have a meeting with their driving instructor and examiner who will:

✅ explain what to expect during the test
✅ show the prompt cards and explain how they will use them
✅ find out what hand gestures learners and their driving instructor used during their driving lessons
✅ give reassurance that they’ll use the same hand gestures during the test

A recent test candidate used them and passed his test with only 2 minors. Passing this all-important test meant that he can now train to be a sign language teacher.
