This was the glorious little beast that was my first (on road) 106, this little passion wagon propelled me to freedom and all the expenses that come with it!

It was a simple creature, in fact with only a few simple modifications it was quite simply a pleasure to drive! A short ratio gearbox as standard, apex lowering front springs and just about two front seats and a dash to weigh it down the little budget rocket seemed to hold it's own on the road.

It really was a completely trouble free motor that is until one sad evening the cambelt tensioner let go without warning and ate the engine.

The shell was immaculate and was later sold on as a project for someone and their dad.

So today we picked up this little beast! Very clean example of a 1.1 SKI model. Only 77k on the clock and lots of history, plan is to clean it up and have a wonderful little run around.

This was a stunning little mk2 saxo VTR, it was bought as it was in the very rare zest yellow colour. Commonly mistaken for sundance, zest was an extremely rare colour that was paler when put against the 106 sundance yellow.

It had a few little issues. So I firstly sorted the engine - whipping the head off of the motor it got treated to a full head gasket and seal set, new belts, tesioners, water pump and general service items.

With the engine now running along nicely I moved onto the brakes, these were in dyer need of a good bleed up, discs and fresh pads all round. This would have been a relatively easy task had it not taken some time to free off the bleed ni***es on the pesky rear calipers!

Moving onto the gearbox it had a new LUK clutch kit fitted as the old unit was not at its best and the release bearing sounded like it wanted to make a bid for freedom. With fresh oil thrown in the transmission was all sorted which was lucky as the history suggested it had been rather neglected in its previous life.

The car now running well and stopping as it should it got treated to a full wash and wax, this shell was incredibly clean, virtually not a sign of rust anywhere!

This little beast later went on to be enjoyed over a full summer of open roads and even a trip to the beach, before being stripped out by the owner and being thrown around a few track days.
