As we welcome month number 9 to 2026, I have been reflecting in the last 7 weeks or so. For my happiness, my children happiness and my husbands happiness.

Upon that reflection I noticed a couple of things; one thing I hate about my job is some mornings I leave my children & husband in bed still fast asleep, and in the evening when I get home my children are already asleep waiting for me to come home. It breaks my heart.

One thing I love about my job is as of August 31st I am no longer working evenings and weekends because I am my own boss & have worked so hard for 5 years to get to where I am now to have the freedom of BALANCE.

I want to thank every pupil who has been on their journey, to those who have started, finished or those who are still on their driving journey. Without you, I wouldn't be able to make memories with my children, be able to wake up with them and put them to bed at night and ultimately see them grow.

So myself and family went away to Go Japan at Brands Hatch (car show) this bank holiday and that meant M1, M25 & M40.

When people say to me, its hard to come by a good instructor as the standards on the roads are so poor, it is evident that my learners/newly learnt are not the problem as they cant be on the motorway.

I had 2 lorries cut in front with little to no notice, lucky I kept a good distance between cars.

I watched someone supervising a learner (no ADI badge) on the motorway - ILLEGAL and the car was all over the place with a nearly flat tyre.

I had to swerve out the way of a car who either didnt look or I was in their blind spot ( luckily I was in the left lane so had a hard shoulder).

This was just on the way there 🫣

Luckily, my own driving meant other remained safe as I brake early and look further ahead to plan, anticipate & proactively action a manoevure.

The quality of driving has definately got worse and I am sure there are many reasons for it but this is why I do what I do. So the people I get the pleasure of teaching, understand and learn to a high and realistic level of driving. Just a shame I spend 60% teaching them how to react to peoples poor level of driving.

Brandon, Brandon, Brandon.. you had alot riding on today. After alot of self doubt even up to this week, bringing your test forward & passing mock tests it still took for the examiner today to tell you your drive was done really well for you to finally believe you CAN drive!

You smashed it, I am so proud of you 💪 Well done mate.

That ADI test report lands in your inbox… and for a moment, it can feel a bit pants. 😂

It’s a 12-month snapshot of your pupils’ driving tests and when you see the passes, the fails, the numbers and the percentages all laid out in front of you, it’s very easy to overthink it.

“Am I doing enough?”
“Could I be doing better?”
“What do those results say about me as an instructor?”

But then you have to zoom in.

That report doesn’t show the nervous pupil who finally found their confidence.
It doesn’t show the pupil who came so far but just had a bad day on test day.
It doesn’t show the countless hours of teaching, coaching, encouragement and little wins along the way.

And it certainly doesn’t define how good an instructor you are.

Sometimes the numbers can make things look worse than they actually are. In the grand scheme of things, we’re okay. I’m okay. And actually… I’m doing enough. ❤️

A useful reminder for any ADI who needs it today: don’t let one report make you forget the bigger picture. 🚗💨

Michele, with just 6 lessons in the bag, you put your head down and got everything done!

We may have been a couple minutes late to the test centre but you went out and performed to a near perfect level with massive compliments from the examiner.

This winter will be alot easier for you but enjoy your summer freedom you deserve🤓💪🌞.
