I'm out and about on the Maverick doing more community bike repairs today!

You might have heard on BBC 3 Counties Radio this morning, I had an interview with Andy Collins about my love for cycling and the community, and how both of those are helping me with my mental health journey. This all comes off the back of the article in MKFM written by Maggie, who I cannot thank enough for the insane amount of exposure it's given to what I'm doing here. I'm blown away by the response and how many people have reached out to me, it's honestly been quite overwhelming and I have been absolutely swamped in messaged. I want to apologise to everyone I haven't got back to yet, I took some time over the weekend to do a little admin stuff (Thank you Mike, James & Jess), and mentally prepare myself for this morning's interview and whatever it may bring.

I'm going to start going through messages this evening after I'm done with repairs, I will get back to you all as soon as I can.

This 90's Apollo BMX build all started with a set of green skyways I retrieved from a recycling bin 4 years ago. This is exactly the bike I dreamed of having as a kid, I'm glad I finally saved up enough pocket money to build one of my own.

"That bike is hard." - A kid I rode past the other day.

Here's a little something I've been cooking up...

This Reflex Kalahari mtb was donated to me for parts. It had been sat in a garden uncovered for some time collecting cobwebs and moss, missing it's front wheel and the fork and groupset were rusted almost solid.

I stripped it down and gave it a good scrub, and built it back up with a new front end and wheels, and finished it off with some Baldys brown wall tyres and yellow cables, grips and valve caps to match the details on the frame.

This bike was fun to build, but so much more fun to ride! I can't wait to take it to some trails. 🌲🚲🌳

I spent the afternoon with my friend adding some finishing touches to his brothers retro Raleigh. This was built entirely for comfort and simplicity, and we had to go all out on the blue components. I snuck a little yellow touch in there to compliment the logos on the frame. 💛🚲🩵

Community Bike Repairs have taken off at full speed!

I've been really busy this week meeting people all across MK and helping them to get their bikes back in action. The responses to my posts have been overwhelming and everyone has been so supportive and friendly!

Thank you so much to everyone who has got in touch with messages of support and positivity, and also to those who I have met this week. You're all awesome!

If you live in Milton Keynes and you have a bike that needs a bit of tlc, don't hesitate to drop a message in my inbox!

Here are two of the bikes I had the pleasure of working on this week, thanks guys! 🤙🚲❤️

The absolute antithesis of a rock solid bike, this 1976 Bickerton Portable mk2 rides like no other bike in the universe. In fact, you don't ride this bike, you take it out for a wobble. I am thankful for its flexibility however, if it were any stiffer, it would shake itself to oblivion.

It's been a while...

Some very significant life changes in the last few years have led me to be able to try and pick this up again.

I am now settled in Milton Keynes, and I'm offering my skills and knowledge in bicycle repair and maintenance to the community. I am doing this is such a way that enables me to continue riding my bikes every day, while also being able to help others to keep riding.

If the Milton Keynes notice board pages have brought you here, thank you for coming through to my page. You can send me a DM here if you have any questions or you have a bike that needs some service or repairs. Or you can just enjoy the photographs of progress of the bikes I build.

Ride safe everyone,

Dan ✌️🚲
