Passing with Kurt Hopson

Passing with Kurt Hopson If you want to LEARN how to drive and not be TOLD how to drive, then you have come to the correct place.

Many years of instructing experience, leaving many customers (some whom thought they would never drive) very happy and with a full drivers licence.😊

Brilliant Jackson, Absolutely smashed the test today in Darlington, with just the 3 minor driving faults. It's been a long journey for you, but I know you are now very happy to have that new licence and will be very safe on the roads.

Congratulations, and if you see me on the roads, give me a beep πŸ˜πŸŽ‰πŸš—πŸ’¨

FIRST TIME PASS WITH 1 DRIVER FAULT!

Well done Pypre! Absolutely smashed the test today in Middlesbrough. It's been a long journey for you, but I know you are now very happy to have that new licence and will be very safe on the roads. I will miss the laughs we've had in the car for sure. You no longer have to worry about driving my "heavy car" 🀣.

Congratulations!!! πŸ˜πŸŽ‰πŸš—πŸ’¨

WOW! I've finally found a video of this. Unfortunately, a lot of other instructors are wrongly teaching students this. If you do this on your driving test (using a car as a 'shield') you would fail your test!. Here's why: That other learner vehicle in the right lane is NOT going to stop you from being hit, they would be catapulted into you. If you cannot see at a junction, roundabout etc then you cannot go, as you would be trusting that other person's judgement.

The phrase is 'can't see can't go'.😁

A question I get asked often on driving lessons "what do you recommend for a first car, and what would be cheapest on insurance?".

New drivers in the UK face significant insurance costs, but the right vehicle could cut that bill down

🌟 DVSA CHANGES 🌟

Changes to driving test booking rules
The rules for booking practical car driving tests are changing to make the system fairer and more secure. These changes are part of the outcome of our consultation to improve the way driving tests are booked.

What's changing
From 31 March 2026 you and your pupils will only be able to change a car driving test up to 2 times (reduced from 6). This applies to all car driving tests booked by you or your pupils.

Swapping tests between 2 of your pupils will count towards this limit, so we’d encourage you to make sure your pupils only book their test when they’re ready to take it.

Managing your availability
You can set times when you're available to take your pupils to their driving tests. This stops your pupils from booking tests at times that do not work for you.

When your pupils use your ADI personal reference number to book their test, they will not be shown appointments at times you've marked as unavailable.

You can set:

morning and afternoon hours you're available for each day of the week
one-off times you're unavailable, such as when you're on holiday
how long you need between one test ending and the next one starting

Ready to Pass? campaign
We’re creating new messaging to share with learner drivers through paid media advertising to encourage them to take action before the changes are introduced.

We're also working on updating the campaign toolkit to help you communicate these changes with your pupils.

We will be running webinars later this month to give you the opportunity to talk to DVSA officials about the upcoming changes, learn more about the paid media campaign and the updated toolkit.

We will share dates and details about how to book your place, so look out for future emails. You can also read more about the changes on
