Changes to driving test booking happening today. ⚠️

From today (9 June), if you move your driving test, you can only move it to one of the 3 nearest test centres to where it's currently booked.

This is the remaining change we committed to make by the end of Spring 2026:

πŸ“… 31 March β€” test changes limited to 2 per booking

πŸ”’ 12 May β€” only learners can book, change or cancel their own test

πŸ“ 9 June β€” test moves limited to 3 nearest centres

Since 12 May, we've suspended 3605 accounts for breaking the rules and reported apps to app stores for removal. We're not stopping there.

⚠️The weather can change in an instant β€” and your driving needs to change with it.

🌦️Sudden rain? The Highway Code says you should double your stopping distance and slow down.

β˜€οΈBright sun can be just as dangerous, creating reflections and glare on road surfaces β€” make sure your sunglasses and sun visor are within reach before you set off.

πŸš—πŸš™And if you're sitting in heavy traffic, keep a safe gap to the car in front. It's easy to creep forward without thinking, but that space could be what prevents a bump.

πŸ‘A few small adjustments can make a big difference. Stay safe on the roads this summer!

🚨From 9 June, learner drivers will only be able to move their driving test to nearby test centres.

If you book a new test from this date, you will only be able to move your test to:

βœ… any of the 3 centres nearest to where your test is booked

βœ… the test centre you first booked at on that current booking

If you have an existing booking, the new rule will apply to where your test is booked at on 9 June – not where you first booked.

Delighted to have sponsorded the team of Colin Leaper and Kenny Mitchell and myself in the Conon and Maryburgh John M Munro Triples yesterday. We won 4 out of our 5 section games getting beaten in the last by Dornoch. Into the semifinals we went and were drawn against 3 ex-Ross County players - Graham Bayne, Gordon Connelly and Barry Wilson. This was another close game in terrible, wet conditions, despite which we managed to advance to the finals where we played the Fortrose and Rosemarkie Trio of Ian Macdonald, Ross Lovett and Martin Lumsden. When looked like an extra end might be required, Martin played two cracking bowls to win the game. Congratulations to them. Having played 126 bowls yours truly is glad of a rest today. Thanks to Colin and Kenny for a great day.

When was the last time you checked your motorbike? 🏍️

Before you start your journey, take a moment to make sure your motorbike is ready for the ride ahead by making these checks part of your routine:

βœ… Petrol/Fuel: check you have enough for your journey
βœ… Oil: check the engine oil level and look for leaks
βœ… Water/Coolant: check levels and for any leaks
βœ… Damage: inspect for loose bolts, damaged mirrors, levers and check chain tension/lubrication
βœ… Electrics: check the headlights (high/low beam), brake light, indicators and horn are working
βœ… Rubber: examine the tyres for damage, objects and make sure the pressure is correct

Setting aside the time to do some key checks each time you get on your motorbike or moped is important and could make all the difference on the road.

Congratulations to Anna Magee on passing her test in Alness this morning. Born and Bred in the North West village of Bettyhill,it was a challenge to get used to the far busier roads but Anna came up with a good performance to earn her pass sheet. I look forward to seeing her driving about in her own car.
Thanks for choosing Maryburgh School Of Motoring and I wish you all the best for the future.

Congratulations to my oldest Grandson Tyler who passed 1st time in sunny Ullapool this afternoon .The morning preparation started with a us both having a Lorne roll at Tarvie Cafe which was excellent and highly recommend it. The trip west was in ideal conditions but some of the driving from others was a disgrace
Ullapool was very busy but Tyler nailed it and a very happy young man relaxes in the passenger seat. All the best with the driving without the L plates
