The first South Midlands Area meeting of the new point-to-point season is taking place next Sunday 12th December, with the first race at 11.30am.

Clerk of the Course John White reported on Wednesday that the going is currently Good. The weather forecast between now and race day is for mostly dry, cold weather with some sunshine and light rain showers. The going report will be updated prior to the close of entries and then updated regularly this week to reflect any changes before race day.

Entries close on Monday 6th December at 12.30pm to the Point-to-Point Racing Company – see pages 94 and 95 of the Planner for full race conditions.

The fixture is the only British point-to-point meeting open to both Irish horses, trainers and riders and professionally trained horses.

Wanted - General Farm/Estate Worker & Assistant Gallopsman

Due to retirement an opportunity has arisen at The Barbury Castle Estate near Marlborough, Wiltshire.
The Estate extends to c.2,200 acres and its operations comprises: Livestock and arable (mainly contracted out) farming, maintaining gallops and other responsibilities for a large horse racing business, a highly regarded shoot, forestry, conservation, property letting and preservation.

The estate is looking for someone with relevant skills and experience (tractor driving, estate maintenance), but most importantly enthusiasm, a willingness to learn and a genuine work ethic.

Salary negotiable but dependant on experience.
