🚗 Is your car trying to tell you something?

We’ve all done it… heard a strange noise from the car and thought:

“Hmm… it’ll probably be fine.” 😂

But these are some of the things you probably shouldn’t ignore:

We’re looking for a third person to join our office team.

As our workshop continues to grow, we now have 8 technicians and need another team member to help keep everything running smoothly.

This isn’t just a reception role. You’ll be speaking with customers, ordering parts, liaising with technicians, booking work into the workshop, preparing estimates, and helping to make sure each day runs as efficiently as possible.

What you’ll be doing

🔹 Speaking with customers face to face and over the phone
🔹 Booking vehicles into the workshop and keeping customers updated
🔹 Ordering and chasing vehicle parts
🔹 Liaising with technicians throughout the day
🔹 Preparing estimates and invoices
🔹 Helping to organise the workshop diary
🔹 General office administration

We’re looking for someone who

✔ Is organised and can stay calm when things get busy
✔ Has good communication skills
✔ Enjoys dealing with people
✔ Can use a computer confidently
✔ Can prioritise several tasks at once
✔ Ideally has motor trade experience, although we’re happy to consider someone with the right attitude who is willing to learn

🏁🚗 MEMBERS OF THE G&A AUTOCARE TEAM TAKE ON THE RUST BUCKET RALLY 2026! 🚗🏁

This Thursday (4th June) at 2:00am, two members of the G&A Autocare team will be setting off on the Rust Bucket Rally – Scandinavian Run 2026, an incredible 5-day, 2,500-mile adventure across Europe in cars worth around £1,000. Definitely not for the faint-hearted! 😅

This year's route will take participants through:

France
Belgium
Netherlands
Germany
Denmark
Norway
Sweden

Gav, one of the owners of G&A Autocare, will be taking on the challenge alongside his dad in a 2003 Ford Focus that has been in the family for over 15 years. Many of our long-term customers may even recognise it, as it was previously G&A Autocare's courtesy car before being decommissioned and retired from service. The car had been sitting unused for years, slowly rusting away, but over the past few months it has undergone a full restoration to bring it back to life and prepare it for the journey ahead. This challenge is made even more special as they're taking it on together as father and son. 🙌

Also taking part is Leighton, one of our technicians, who will be tackling the rally with his mate in a £750 BMW 120d Coupe. After some preparation and a few improvements, the BMW is ready for the miles ahead... hopefully! 😂

Around 100 teams from across the UK will be taking part in this year's rally, all setting off on the same epic journey and hoping their "rust buckets" make it to the finish line! 😂

The Rust Bucket Rally has raised nearly £600,000 for local charities over previous events, and this year's chosen charity is Petals – The Baby Loss Counselling Charity. ❤️

Petals provides specialist counselling and support to parents who have suffered the devastating loss of a pregnancy or baby. The support they offer helps families navigate grief and trauma and find a way forward during incredibly difficult times.

Each team is aiming to raise £1,000, and we're now getting close to our fundraising targets. Any donations to either team, no matter how big or small, would be hugely appreciated and will help them get closer to reaching their targets for this fantastic cause. 🙏

A massive thank you to everyone who has already donated, sponsored the cars, or shown support. The response so far has been amazing.

🚗 TYRE SAFETY = SAVING MONEY 🚗

Your tyres are the only thing connecting your vehicle to the road — so looking after them properly isn’t just about safety, it’s about getting the most value for your money too.

Here are 4 simple checks that can make a big difference 👇

🔍 Tread Depth
Legal limit is 1.6mm, but we always recommend replacing before they get that low. Worn tyres reduce grip, especially in wet conditions, and increase stopping distances.

💨 Tyre Pressure
Incorrect pressures can cause uneven wear — overinflated tyres tend to wear more in the centre, while underinflated tyres wear more on the edges. Both will shorten tyre life and affect handling.

⚖️ Wheel Alignment (Tracking)
If your alignment is out, your tyres will wear unevenly and much faster than they should. You might also notice the car pulling to one side or the steering not sitting straight.

🛠️ Wheel Balancing
Unbalanced wheels can cause vibrations while driving and lead to flat spots on your tyres, reducing their lifespan and comfort on the road.

⚠️ Ignoring these can lead to premature tyre replacement — something no one wants.

⚠️ What Is DPF Regeneration? (And Why It Matters) ⚠️

Many modern diesel vehicles are fitted with a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), which is designed to trap soot from the exhaust to reduce emissions.

Over time, this soot builds up and the vehicle needs to clean the filter, a process called regeneration.

DPF regeneration happens by:
✔ Raising the exhaust temperature
✔ Burning off the built-up soot
✔ Clearing the filter so it can continue working properly

Why do problems happen?
Regeneration usually needs the vehicle to be driven at a steady speed for a period of time.
Lots of short journeys, stop-start driving, and school runs often don’t allow the process to complete, which can lead to:
• DPF warning lights
• Loss of performance
• Forced regenerations
• In severe cases, blocked filters and expensive repairs

How to help prevent DPF problems:
• Take the vehicle for a longer drive now and then
• Don’t ignore warning lights
• Keep servicing up to date
• Get the vehicle checked early if a fault appears

At G&A Autocare, it’s the people behind the tools that make the difference.

Meet Francis — a valued member of our workshop team with 19 years of experience in the motor trade. He’s our go-to man for servicing, tyres, tracking and suspension work.

Whether it’s routine maintenance or more involved repairs, Francis approaches every job with care and attention to detail, making sure every vehicle leaves the workshop running as it should.

His favourite job? Rear axle bushes on Ford Fiestas — a task he knows inside out.

Fun fact: his favourite item in the workplace is the air fryer — he somehow manages around 4-5 meals a day and is still the lightest out of everyone here.

Hardworking and always willing to get stuck in, Francis plays a key role in keeping our workshop running smoothly.
