IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED: Stop drive recall issued for some Citroen C4, DS4 and DS5 cars
A ‘stop drive’ recall has been issued by Citroën for C4, DS4 and DS5 models as of Thursday 7 August 2025.
These models were already subject to a recall notice due to an issue with the airbag system and includes all C4, DS4 and DS5 vehicles built between 2 February 2010 and 20 May 2018.
DVSA fully supports the manufacturer’s decision to issue a ‘stop-drive’ notice.
What do I have to do?
Citroën will issue advice directly to owners of affected cars with guidance on getting the issue repaired.
If you drive one of the affected models, you should follow the manufacturer’s advice. This advice should be followed on driving lessons or on a driving test.
You can check if your car is affected using the Citroën online checker tool using the car’s Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Driving examiners and ADI examiners will check any Citroën C4, DS4 and DS5 models brought for test have had the necessary repairs carried out using the Citroën safety recall checker before taking them out.
If the recall checker shows the repair still needs to be carried out, it will not be able to be used on test.
Telling your pupils
We are contacting all candidates with a car or instructor driving test to make them aware of the recall, how to check if their car is affected and what to do if it is.
If you or your pupils need to cancel a test due to the recall you will not lose your fee if you cancel your test within the 10 days short notice cancellation period if you do this before 7 September 2025
