đ Driving Test Myths⊠letâs clear a few up! đ
â âYou must steer at 10 and 2â
Nope. Any safe, controlled steering method is fine. Push-pull, shuffle, one-handed when appropriate. The examiner cares about control, not clock faces.
â âYou have to exaggerate mirror checksâ
You really donât. Examiners are trained to spot natural eye and head movement. Acting like youâre watching a tennis match just looks forced.
â âDonât take your test on a Friday⊠all the passes are goneâ
There are no pass quotas. None. Zero. Every test is assessed on your driving, not the examinerâs weekly allowance.
â âThe test is harder/easier if you donât go in an instructorâs carâ
False. Private car or instructorâs car makes no difference. Same marking, same standards, same test.
A few more classics whilst weâre here:
â âExaminers want to fail youâ
They donât. A pass makes their day easier, not harder. Thereâs more paperwork to do on their side for a failed test.
â âIf you stall, youâve failedâ
Not always, stalling happens. Itâs how you deal with it that matters.
â âIf you go the wrong way, thatâs a failâ
Wrong route is fine. Dangerous decisions arenât.
â âJust drive really slow so you donât make any mistakes, then you canât failâ
Driving too slowly can be just as much of a problem as driving too fast and in certain cases, will be marked as a serious fault.
Drive well and safe, then youâll pass! Simple as that! đ
