No day is the same when keeping cars safe on the road. From cracked tyres, snapped wheel bolts and springs, cracked axles, coolant leaks, failing timing belts, turbo wastegate issues, failed batteries and worn out dual mass flywheels. We're looking for a mechanic/technician to join the workshop. The hours are Monday to Thursday 8am - 4.30pm and Friday 8am - 2.30pm.

There is a mechanic position also available for part time/negotiable hours.

Pay will be between £13 and £17 per hour

When this cutomer noticed their car was hard to start and has a lack of power i was asked to take a look. Whilst inspecting the car i found the fuel filter in this condition. To work out why i asked the customer if they have been putting their own fuel (possibly contaminated) in from barrels at home. The answer being no i was on to finding why this could be happening. Behind the fuel filler door the drain hole had blocked allowing water to fill up towards the filler neck opening, that and the angle it was parked at made it run into the feul tank. A good clean and repair and it was back to starting as it should

Just before Christmas i had a Ford Cmax reccomended to me with an intermittent power steering issue causing the steering to go very heavy. On first inspection there was a comunication fault code stored in the control module. during testing i found the harness rubbed through on the body and shorting the wiring when it moved enough to touch. The damaged section was replaced and sealed and the harness cover repaired with new harness tape. I then secured the clip so it wouldnt fall back to the chassis and happen again. It was easy to top up the low fluid level whilst in there too.

This Vauxhall Insignia was in for a cambelt and repairs. Whilst in I noticed a twisted brake hose, so said to the customer that i'll return it to the correct position when doing the repairs. This turned into me stripping and servicing the nearly new front brakes (not fitted here). I found the carriers heavily corroded and the pads fitted wrong, with one side having 2 inner pads and the other side having 2 outer pads. That left me servicing, de-scaling the corrosion and rebuilding the brakes and one happy customer.
