🚨 HAVE THE NEW DVSA RULES ACTUALLY CHANGED ANYTHING?

Driving instructors can no longer book driving tests for pupils.

Learners can only change a test twice.

Additional restrictions have been introduced to tackle bots, touts and unfair booking practices.

Yet many test centres are still showing waiting times of over 20 weeks.

So here's the question...

🎉 HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO GHALINA! 🎉
A fantastic first-time pass at Bredbury Driving Test Centre with just 1 driving fault!
😎👏

Ghalina came to Ian after completing around 25 hours with a previous instructor and feeling like she wasn't making the progress she wanted. After a further 20 hours of hard work, determination and commitment, she achieved an outstanding result.

What makes this achievement even more special is the journey behind it. Having moved to the UK from Syria with her family, Ghalina has worked incredibly hard to learn English while also studying for her driving tests. She passed her Theory Test first time and has now followed it up with a first-time Practical Test pass too. 👏

Success doesn't happen by accident. It comes from dedication, resilience and a willingness to keep learning, and Ghalina has shown all of those qualities throughout her training.

A massive well done also to her instructor, Ian, for helping guide and support her on the final part of her journey. 👏

I can only imagine how proud her family must have been when she arrived home with that pass certificate! ❤️

🚨 BIG CHANGES TO DRIVING TEST BOOKINGS FROM TODAY 🚨

The DVSA has officially changed the driving test booking system from today (12th May 2026).
Here’s what learners need to know 👇

✅ YOU must now book and manage your own driving test

✅ YOU must make any changes or cancellations yourself

❌ Driving instructors can no longer swap or manage tests on your behalf through the DVSA system

❌ Tests can now only be changed TWICE before needing to cancel and rebook

Another important change is also coming in June:

📍 Test changes will soon only be allowed within your local area and nearby test centres.

The DVSA says these changes are designed to crack down on bots, resellers and unofficial booking services that have made waiting times worse.

But it’s now more important than ever to: ✔️ Keep your booking details safe

✔️ Plan lessons and tests properly
✔️ Book well in advance
✔️ Stay organised with cancellations and changes

🚗👏 Huge congratulations to Sam on passing his driving test today at Bredbury Driving Test Centre with just 2 driving faults 👏🚗

Sam has absolutely shown what safe driving and having the right mindset is all about.

Even though he’s got the driest sense of humour (a bit like myself 🤣), he always took driving seriously and understood the responsibility that comes with being behind the wheel. That attitude will take him a long way on the roads.

What also impressed me was how unbelievably chilled out he was before his test 👀🤣

No panic, no overthinking, just calm, focused and ready to drive. That says a lot about someone’s mindset and preparation.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our lessons, Sam. You’ve been amazing from start to finish 👏
One day I’ll show you how to really play basketball 🏀
I won’t let my height stop me from doing a slam dunk 👀🤣

🚨 SHOULD THE UK INTRODUCE GRADUATED DRIVING LICENCES (GDL)? 🚨

This is something I’ll be raising in my meeting with our local MP… and I want YOUR opinion.

Across the world, countries have already taken action to protect young drivers 👇

🇦🇺 Australia

✔️ Up to 55% reduction in fatal crashes (NSW)
✔️ 31% drop in crashes for 18–20 year olds �
Protect Young Drivers

🇨🇦 Canada

✔️ 83% reduction in deaths among 16–19 year olds �

Protect Young Drivers

🇳🇿 New Zealand

✔️ 23% reduction in injury collisions for young drivers �

Protect Young Drivers

🇺🇸 United States

✔️ Up to 25% reduction in fatal crashes in some states �

So what is GDL?

It’s not about stopping young people driving…
It’s about phasing their exposure to risk.
Think:

✔️ Night driving restrictions early on
✔️ Passenger limits
✔️ Minimum learning periods
✔️ More structured experience before full freedom

Here’s the reality in the UK 👇

Young drivers are massively overrepresented in serious crashes. �

And we already know the biggest risks:

➡️ Night driving
➡️ Peer pressure (friends in the car)
➡️ Inexperience

GDL directly targets ALL of these.
BUT… here’s where it gets interesting 👇

Some argue:

❌ It limits independence
❌ It could affect jobs or education
❌ It’s “unfair” on responsible young drivers

Others say:

✅ It saves lives
✅ It builds experience safely
✅ It protects passengers, not just drivers

So I’ll ask you…

👉 Should the UK introduce a Graduated Driving Licence system?

👉 Or should we stick with the current system and focus on coaching better drivers?
