"I had the pleasure this weekend of attending the Under 17 Car Club's Pathfinder Project. This uniquely provides a theoretical and practical introduction to driving for pre-licence and novice drivers. Using a structured methodology, the programme develops safe attitudes and behaviours while introducing the technical skills of driving. I was extremely impressed by the event and thoroughly enjoyed t
he opportunity to be driven safely around the course by some young drivers who only a week before had never been behind the wheel. The benefits of Pathfinder are obvious not just in terms of road safety but also in boosting the confidence of the young people - and their parents, some of whom believed that they would never be able to drive. I was delighted to learn that the project is being pioneered right here in Warwickshire and am proud that we are leading the country in supporting our future drivers."
