Wet Belt Failure – 2021 Peugeot 2008 🔧

Another 1.2 PureTech engine in with oil pressure problems, caused by the oil pump pick-up becoming blocked with pieces of degraded timing belt.

These engines use a wet belt (belt-in-oil) system, and belt degradation can cause debris to circulate through the engine oil system and restrict the oil pump pick-up — potentially leading to serious engine damage. This particular Peugeot was relatively low mileage, showing that belt problems aren't necessarily limited to high-mileage vehicles.
