River Thames: restrictions and closures

New lock closure notice for Cookham Lock (Mon 7 – Fri 18 September 2026).

Cookham Lock Sluice Works 2026: river closure notice

Cookham Lock will be closed to navigation between the above dates to enable engineers to undertake safety critical repair work to the lock gate sluices.

No passage through the lock will be possible between the hours stated above on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 September 2026.

For the periods Wednesday 9 September until Friday 11 September 2026 and Monday 14 September to Friday 18 September 2026 passage through the lock will be provided between 1pm and 2pm only.

Passage through the lock will be available across the weekend period between 5pm Friday 12 September and 8am Monday 14 September 2026.

No passage through the look will be possible at any time stated above whilst works are ongoing.
