Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Martin Koss at https://28px.uk/ for all the work he does on the PP Tuning website.

Any time I need something changing, whether its product descriptions, prices, postage costs, adding new products or making changes to existing ones, he’s straight on it. No waiting around for weeks, no chasing people up, its usually done within 24 hours and I get an email back with a link so I can check everything is how I wanted it.

What I really like is he doesn’t just do exactly what I ask. Quite often he’ll make suggestions or improvements and ask what I think. As a business owner you look at your own website every day and sometimes don’t see things from a customers point of view. Having somebody that does is a massive help.

Nothing ever seems to be too much trouble. Whether its a small change or something more involved, it gets sorted quickly and properly. That’s getting harder and harder to find these days.

Running a small business is hard enough without having to keep chasing people, so its nice to have somebody reliable that just gets on with it and gets the job done.

This 1999 VW T4 2.5 TDI 102bhp rolled into PP Tuning with over 252,000 miles on the clock and a few modifications already fitted.

The customer had installed PP1 injectors along with a so-called custom map (no dyno graph) that was producing plenty of black smoke… and not much to show for it. 😬

📊 Before Pendle Remap:

❌ Excessive black smoke

📈 After Pendle Remap:
🔥 135bhp
🔥 334Nm
✅ Clean power delivery
✅ No black smoke

We’ve just given a local VW T6.1 (110hp) a proper glow-up! Tuned via OBD with its Delphi ECU—squeezing out that extra oomph! 💪

But wait, there’s more—our stainless steel twin-exit exhaust now complements that rear diffuser like a dream. 🎶🔥

🤣 Well, well, well… we’ve finally found a dyno graph drawn on a Etch-A-sketch! 😜

This VW T4 2.5 TDI 102bhp rolled into the workshop looking a little worse for wear. 🤦

The customer had been chasing a surging issue for quite some time, and as the dyno graph showed, something definitely wasn’t right.

📉 Before:
🔹 91bhp
🔹 215Nm

This is exactly where having a rolling road dyno comes into its own. Without it, you’re simply guessing.

After some investigation and a few proven tweaks:

✅ MAF cleaned and MAF mod carried out
✅ Turbo actuator correctly set
✅ Injection pump timing adjusted

📈 After:
🔥 130bhp
🔥 289Nm

Now that’s more like it! 💪

The best part? The customer messaged us when he got home and said:

💬 “It’s like a new van!”

😬 When More Torque Isn’t Better…

We recently had a customer come to us with a VW T5.1 102bhp 5-speed that had been mapped elsewhere.

His complaint? Severe judder and vibration under load.

After taking it out for a road test, it was obvious something wasn’t right… and that’s putting it mildly! 😳 The vibration was horrendous.

The customer had already been back to the original tuning company and was told it would likely need:

❌ New driveshafts
❌ A new dual mass flywheel
❌ Possibly even a gearbox

Before spending thousands on parts, we got the van onto the MAHA rolling road to see what was really going on.

📊 The Problem

The dyno graph told the story straight away.

The tune was producing a massive 338Nm of torque through a 5-speed gearbox, with a huge torque spike low down in the rev range. The sudden surge was overwhelming the drivetrain and causing the judder.

🔧 The Fix

First, we returned the van to stock software and ran it again.

✅ No judder
✅ No vibration
✅ Smooth power delivery

Then we loaded a Pendle Performance calibration, designed to deliver power progressively and safely.

📈 Results

As it arrived:
🚐 163bhp / 338Nm

Back to stock:
🚐 99bhp / 230Nm

Pendle tuned:
🚐 160bhp / 294Nm 😎

The result? A van that’s just as quick, drives properly, and doesn’t feel like it’s trying to shake itself apart every time you put your foot down.

🚐💨 VW T4 2.5 TDI Rescue Mission! 💨🚐

This one came in with a simple complaint…

“It’s got no power.” 😬

After a thorough inspection, we found:

❌ N75 valve plumbed in incorrectly
❌ Turbo actuator wound all the way off
❌ Air filter absolutely soaked
❌ Catalytic converter completely blocked

Even after correcting the N75 setup and actuator adjustment, it still wasn’t going to perform with a waterlogged intake and a blocked exhaust. 🤦‍♂️

Once all the hardware issues were sorted, it was time for the dyno…

And then we discovered why the cat had blocked.

🌫️ Smoke… Smoke… SMOKE! 🌫️

The existing remap was shocking.

We removed the software, returned it to the genuine VW 102bhp calibration and ran it again.

Dyno Results 📊

As it arrived:
🔹 43bhp
🔹 140Nm

Previous remap:
🔹 123bhp
🔹 317Nm
🔹 Massive smoke output 😳

Back to genuine VW software:
🔹 106bhp
🔹 249Nm
🔹 No smoke 👍

Pendle Performance Software Installed:
🔹 126.9bhp
🔹 294Nm
🔹 Smooth power delivery
🔹 Zero smoke 😎

The End Result?

📈 +82.2bhp increase from when it arrived
📈 +154Nm torque increase
✅ No smoke
✅ Reliable power
✅ Properly calibrated software

Just goes to show that not all remaps are created equal. More smoke doesn’t mean more power… it usually means something isn’t right! 😉

Another T4 back on the road and performing exactly as it should.
