One thing I’ve learned after 37 years of teaching is that it really doesn’t matter whether you pass your driving test first time, second time, or third time.

Every learner’s journey is different. Some people need a little longer to build confidence, gain experience, or learn how to manage their nerves on test day.

The important thing is not how many attempts it takes, but that you keep going and don’t give up on yourself.

The smile, the relief, and the sense of achievement when you finally pass are exactly the same. Passing your test is something to be proud of, no matter how long the journey took to get there.

Everyone seems to be in such a rush these days.

In this video, there was so much unnecessary beeping, yet nobody had actually done anything wrong. Beeping should be used to warn others of danger, not to show frustration or impatience.

A few extra seconds of patience can make the roads a much safer and less stressful place for everyone.

My pupil drove my car for the first time and the biggest difference was the clutch. Modern cars also come with features like electronic handbrakes, lane assist, hill hold, and other driver aids that can make the car feel completely different to drive.

The challenge is that many learners are practising in older cars at home and then taking lessons in newer vehicles, or vice versa. This means they often need time to adjust to how the car responds.

A motorbike overtook us without checking if the road ahead was clear. An oncoming driver had to slow down and stop to avoid a collision.

If you’re going to overtake a learner, make sure you can see that the road ahead is clear and that you can complete the manoeuvre safely. Saving a few seconds is never worth risking somebody else’s safety.

This road catches so many learners out. It’s steep, narrow, and there’s very little room for error. πŸš—

The key here isn’t speed, it’s control. Good clutch control, good steering, and staying calm under pressure make all the difference.

Confidence comes from practice, and every time you tackle roads like this, you’re building valuable driving skills for the future.

Would this road make you nervous as a learner?
