This is a fascinating 1980 UK public information film about the driving test, and it's well worth 25 minutes if you've got the time.
The first half follows a driving instructor through a typical day with different pupils, and it's amazing how little has changed! You still see the same attitudes today—nervous learners, overconfident learners, and those who want to take a test before they're really ready.
The second half follows a driving examiner and gives a great insight into the driving test from the examiner's perspective.
The cars, roads and fashions may have changed, but the principles of learning to drive and taking the driving test really haven't.
A brilliant bit of driving history—have a watch and comment your thoughts!

🎉 Congratulations to Ellie on passing her driving test today with only 1 minor! 🚗💨

Test day didn't start quite as planned. During our pre-test drive we hit heavy traffic on the A13, leaving us with only around 30 minutes before the test. It's a good reminder that driving isn't always about perfect conditions, sometimes you have to stay calm, adapt and focus on the task ahead.
I'm delighted all her hard work paid off and wish her many years of safe and enjoyable motoring.
