Why brake fluid chemistry matters.
At high brake temperatures, the chemistry behind your brake fluid can directly affect pedal feel and consistency.
Borate ester
• Lower compressibility
• More consistent pedal feel
• More controlled response at high temperatures
Vs.
Silicate ester
• Higher compressibility
• Prolonged pedal travel
• Less consistent response as temperatures rise
The difference comes down to how these chemistries behave under extreme conditions.
Borate esters also interact differently with absorbed water, helping maintain a more homogeneous fluid and controlled braking response.
This is why P1 & GT use borate-ester technology.
