Happy new year everyone!

This year has been a real rollercoaster for us at On The Run Mechanic with plenty of ups and lots of downs as well but we have to keep moving!

Thank you to everyone who has supported my business and I cannot thank those enough who have always stayed loyal to us no matter what! Your the REAL MVP'S!!

With this year coming to an end I hope everyone has had a wonderful year and insha'Allah next year will be time to level up just like us!

BMW M6 in for a water pump & electric auxiliary pump replacement 🌟

This M6 was suffering from a major coolant leak and power loss. As soon as you put in coolant into the tank it would just pour out as soon as you started the vehicle.

Leak identified, parts ordered direct from BMW we started to do our magic! You can see by the video just now much play there was in the water pump pulley, the bearings had failed catastrophically and that was the reason why there was such a bad leak! Luckily for the customer it didn't over heat as this could have caused a whole world of new problems!

We got this beast back on the road in 2 days (as the customer ordered the wrong part and had to wait another day for it to be delivered πŸ™„) or it would have been done on the same day. Now the customer can be rest assured that his car is back to its optimal performance and reliability 🫑

All done and another happy customer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

BMW X5 in for a steering column replacement

As we all know the F series BMW's are notorious for steering wheels getting stolen by these scumbags thieves πŸ˜’

When this X5 got recovered to the recovery driver used vicegrips to turn the steering wheel which is a BIG NO NO as this will damage the splines of which the steering wheel fits on to.

This was exactly the case and it was used to much that the splines vanished and became flat meaning that when you mount the steering wheel on the column, there's no grip and the steering wheel would just spin.

No problem for us though! Customer got a new/used column, we came and fitted all in no time and sorted the rest βœ…

Team work makes the dream work βœ…βœ…βœ…

Mercedes CLA 45 in for a gearbox service

Just like you service engine oil it's always recommended to replace your gearbox fluid as well and if they have a serviceable filter. The usual recommended time to replace the gearbox oil every 40,000 miles and I know some manufacturers say that it is life time oil. Believe me when I say this but NO OIL IS LIFETIME! It has to be serviced! It gets old and especially with a gearbox and depending on how it's driven, a lot of metal shavings from the gear cogs start contaminating the oil so it needs to be replaced without doubt.

All done outside our customers house on their day off. Instead of taking it to a garage and sit in a waiting room they had it done outside they're home and watch the magic happen!

BMW 5 series in for some suspension repair as the car had dropped to one side.

We advised the customer to buy a whole suspension leg which includes a hub, all the wishbones and all arm joints. We tell all of our customers to do this because it's best if all the parts are changed to erase any doubt for anything to be bent as it's very difficult to tell. The only way you can tell if something is bent other than if it's blatant is to do a wheel alignment but thats a waste of time as if something is bent then the customer will waste more time repairing the vehicle.

So all in all it's best to just replace everything in one go to ensure that everything is true and straight πŸ‘ŒπŸ½

Vehicle was outside our customers house as they got the car recovered home and we came and repaired. (I forgot to get pictures of after the repair had been done πŸ™„)

It is an absolute pleasure when working on these old school cars because you can see just how much mechanical engineering went into building these tanks where they barely rely on anything electricalal and are made with mechanics ease in their portfolio!

Things are much more straight forward and easier to work on when you have lots of space to do just the general maintenance stuff! I gotta say tho these pads and discs were a bit of a nightmare as they were like doing the ford transits of our current day and age πŸ™„ but at least Mercedes have now evolved a lot more but still made amazing and long lasting cars in the past where longevity of a car was a big factor!

BMW G20 3 Series in for
Front leg assembly replacement

Customers car was out on a rental when the driver had hit a deep pothole at some speed which had caused the whole suspension to dislodge and bend causing the wheel to lodge itself into the wheel arch deeming it undriveable.

You can just see by the pictures how bad the damage was and how bent the wishbones had become from the impact and how it started touching the shock absorber and burning out the tyre. BMW from factory have a VERY small clearance from the tyre and the shock absorber and all it took is one bump to case this catastrophic damage!

We advised the customer to buy a whole leg assembly just to be safe and make sure that there is nothing else bent that we couldn't see. Both lower wishbone arms, hub assembly and shock absorber with top mount were all replaced. Because of the impact it resets the wheel alignment which needs to be coded back in which we carried out. All that's left is for the customer to do a wheel alignment and it's good to go!

BMW X5 in for rear airbag replacement

A very common issue on these X5s are the rear airbags that control the rear height on the car deteriorate and cause a major air leak leading to the car not being able to maintain or get to the desired ride height for the vehicle to be driven.

From the pictures you can see just how rotten the rubber has become causing for it to fail and let air out the bags.

We went to the customers house where the company they bought the car from supplied the parts and we fitted βœ…

All done, car back up to it's optimum height and another happy customer ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
