🚛 INTRODUCING THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE BOLEYN FLEET

Our new DAF XF530 heavy recovery truck is nearly ready to go to work — and this one is a bit special.

It features the first production Boniface Fusion body, complete with the distinctive new red halo-style rear lights, coupled with a Mk6 Interstater, twin winches and rear stabiliser legs.

We’ve specified a hydraulic lifting beacon bar with integrated floodlights, giving our operators increased visibility and a safer working area when loading and recovering vehicles at night.

It also features the Boniface Lift Bar system, giving us even greater versatility when lifting and towing.

One of the standout features has to be the storage. The Fusion body gives us a huge amount of locker space, allowing the truck to carry an extensive range of forks, lifting equipment, straps, chains, air lines, tools and recovery equipment — all properly organised and immediately accessible.

And underneath all that immaculate bodywork is something equally important: steel ballast positioned behind the cab.

With the combination of the XF530 chassis, Mk6 Interstater, Lift Bar and additional ballast, we’re expecting this to be an extremely capable lifting and towing truck.

A serious piece of heavy recovery equipment — built to work, not just to look good.

The new depot increases our capacity to support operators across Essex, East London and the surrounding area, helping keep vehicles maintained, compliant and on the road.

When the Public Sees a Recovery Truck, They Often Think the Job Starts and Ends with Recovering a Vehicle.

The reality is very different.

At serious incidents, our Incident Managers and recovery operators regularly arrive expecting to deal with a damaged vehicle, only to find themselves acting as first responders. Before a vehicle can even be recovered, our teams are often involved in rescuing casualties, cutting apart damaged structures, removing dangerous debris, making the scene safe, protecting other road users, and coordinating closely with police, fire, ambulance and highways agencies.

This image captures one of those moments. Long before recovery could begin, our team was working to remove hazardous debris and restore a safe environment for everyone involved.

What is often overlooked is that while many emergency stakeholders operate with substantial public funding, dedicated equipment budgets and extensive government-backed training programmes, the recovery industry delivers an equally critical frontline service whilst receiving only a fraction of the financial support.

Yet every day and night, recovery operators stand on live carriageways, in all weather conditions, facing significant risks to protect the public, assist the emergency services and keep the country’s roads moving.

Recovery is not simply about towing vehicles.

It is about incident management, scene safety, public protection, traffic resilience and supporting emergency operations when people need help most.

Is this Heavy Recovery Truck like Marmite to you? You either love it or hate it.

Boleyn Recovery & Fleet Services has taken delivery of a new DAF XF 530 fitted with a Boniface 9055 Recoverer, and it’s already turning heads in the recovery industry. This vehicle has been designed in collaboration with Boniface to push capability further and introduce a number of features that we believe are a genuine first for a truck of this type.

The vehicle is fitted with twin 50,000 lb main winches and RXP deployable legs, each equipped with 35,000 lb winches. The RXPs can also be deployed to the rear of the vehicle via additional fairleads mounted on the top boom, allowing for rearward pulling and stabilisation when required.

The aim of the build was simple: increase lifting and pulling capability while improving operational flexibility for complex recoveries.

One of the most noticeable design changes is the body profile. Traditionally, recovery vehicles feature a stepped-down body behind the boom. On this truck we deliberately broke that convention and designed the body to remain level along the top.

The purpose of this was to maximise stowage capacity and reclaim valuable storage space that would otherwise be lost with the installation of the RXP system. It’s a different look, and it’s already generating mixed feedback across the industry — but for us the increased equipment capacity and practicality made it the right decision.

The second unique element is the control system. The truck has been fitted with two independent remote-control systems — one operating the standard recovery equipment and the other dedicated to the RXP legs and winches.

This allows operators to work more efficiently on complex recoveries and is believed to be the first time this configuration has been fitted to a Boniface recoverer.

This truck was built with one goal in mind: to give Boleyn Recovery even greater capability when dealing with large and complex recoveries on behalf of our customers.

So the question remains…
