Did a quick job yesterday. A completely standard engine. Scooter was running very rough and would not restart after a run.
The customer had been told fit an electronic kit. Rubbish all she needed was a flywheel re magnetising and the points set up. After that was done she was running sweet.
Now there are times you do need an electronic kit. But not on a standard engine.
I really do get fed up with this advice. I am sure this advice is only given out by people to cover their own ignorance on how to set up a 6v points set up.
This scooter is a good example system just needed setting up. The electric’s have been working perfectly for 60 years and still are. And the advice given is to fit an electronic kit today made God knows where for reliability. Show me an electronic kit on a scooter that’s used daily and still working after 60 years.
