They had the fancy machines. I had the brain. 😌
So an MG3 2024 Hybride rolls into my week that wouldn't start after accident. Fair enough, happens all the time.
But wait… this one had already been through EVERYONE:
👨‍🔧 An auto electrician — not just any electrician, the guy with the DEALER-LEVEL machines. Software updates. Online programming. Security gateway access. The full James Bond toolkit.
Result? Scratching his head. 🫠
👨‍🔧 Other guys had a poke around too. Nothing.
💻 THEN they called in the big guns — a remote diagnostics company. The people who diagnose cars over the INTERNET like they're ordering a Deliveroo.
Result? Also nothing. 💀
So finally… they called me. (The correct order, if you ask me 😏)
I plug in. Do my thing. Not just "read codes and pray" like everyone else — I go digging. Module by module. Live data. The places nobody checks.
And what do I find buried deep in a restraint module?
A CRASH EVENT. With NO fault code. NO warning. NO nothing. 🕵️
The car had secretly locked itself down after an impact and told NOBODY. Not the dealer machine. Not the internet wizards. Nobody.
Except me. Obviously. 😎
The car wasn't broken. It was in witness protection. And I'm the guy who finds them.
Dealer electrician: beaten ✅ Remote diagnostics company: beaten ✅ MG: started ✅ Invoice: cheaper than all of them combined ✅✅✅
Moral of the story?
Expensive machines don't find faults. Experience does Then Qualification deos

⚡ EV not starting? It's not always the 12V battery.
Most garages are still figuring out 12V systems. At S JAY, we're already deep into high-voltage EV diagnostics.
Modern electric vehicles monitor high-voltage isolation every second. If the HV battery loses insulation to the chassis — the car shuts down. Full stop.
This is advanced auto electrical — not basic garage work.
I diagnose EV and hybrid electrical faults properly. If the dealership is scratching their heads, call the specialist.

Nissan technician: "Sorry mate, we can't find the fault."

Me: "Let me have a look."

2025 X-Trail T33 e-Power. B0094-88 — Crash Area Sensor. Current fault, wouldn't clear. Airbag light stuck on.

Customer had already:
❌ Replaced the crash sensor (genuine part)
❌ Checked continuity himself
❌ Been back to Nissan twice

4 hours of tracing wiring diagrams, checking every connector, and going through the loom inch by inch.

The actual fault? The crash sensor plug had been swapped with the parking sensor plug behind the bumper. Same connector type, wrong position. CAN lines going to the wrong place.

Not the sensor. Not the SRS module. One mixed-up plug.

Swapped them back. Cleared the code. Rescanned. Airbag light out. Customer drove home happy.

This is why I do what I do. Not for the easy ones. For the ones everyone else has already given up on.
