🚗 Hampstead drivers: a tyre that keeps losing pressure may not have an obvious puncture.

Around Hampstead Heath, Heath Street, Belsize Park and Finchley Road, repeated top-ups can sometimes point to a leaking valve, a damaged tyre bead or corrosion where the tyre seals against the wheel rim. A small leak can become a bigger problem if it is ignored.

If one tyre is regularly lower than the others:

• Check it when cold and compare it with your vehicle’s recommended pressure
• Look for a visible nail, cut, bulge or damage to the sidewall
• Don’t keep driving if the tyre is rapidly deflating or visibly damaged
• Arrange an inspection so the tyre, valve and wheel can be assessed properly

Our certified mobile technicians cover Hampstead and NW3 24/7, attending homes, workplaces, car parks or another safe location. We can supply and fit replacement tyres, carry out eligible repairs and provide mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts. If the wheel needs specialist repair or the issue falls outside our mobile scope, we’ll explain the next step.

🔧 Puncture on Holloway Road and you can't find the locking wheel nut key? It's one of the most common hold-ups we see.

✅ Check the glovebox, the boot floor around the spare or tyre kit, the side pockets in the boot and the door bins
✅ Look in the car's original toolkit bag or wallet. Some keys live in a small pouch
✅ Still missing? If you have the code card that came with it, some manufacturers and dealers can supply a replacement
🚫 Don't hammer a socket onto the nut yourself. It can damage the wheel and the stud
⚠️ Don't drive far on a flat while you hunt for it

Once it's sorted, keep the key in the same place every time and tell anyone else who drives the car where it lives. Stuck near Nag's Head or after a match at the Emirates? Call for emergency tyre fitting or repair, and tell us the key is missing so we can talk you through the options before we come out.

Handing back a lease or company car around Hammersmith W6? A quick tyre check before collection could help you spot issues that may be classed as damage rather than fair wear, and avoid potentially rechargeable end-of-contract charges.

Our certified mobile technicians can attend your home, workplace, office or fleet address near Hammersmith Broadway, King Street, Hammersmith Bridge, Eventim Apollo, Ravenscourt Park, Barons Court, the A4 and A219, including areas towards Chiswick and Shepherd’s Bush.

We’ll check tread condition, cuts, bulges, kerb and sidewall damage, valves, pressures and TPMS warning lights. We can also check that tyres meet the vehicle’s recommended size, load index and speed rating, and are correctly matched across an axle. Arrange a check before your collection date rather than leaving it until handback day.

Need action? We provide mobile tyre fitting and eligible puncture repairs where the tyre is suitable, with all major tyre brands for cars, vans, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles. We also offer 24/7 emergency tyre fitting, mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts. Work outside our mobile scope can be referred to a suitable garage.

🛞 Tyre pressure warning on Kentish Town Road, but the car feels fine? With run-flats, that's exactly the danger.

✅ Run-flat tyres let you keep driving after a puncture, usually up to around 50 miles at no more than 50mph. Check your handbook for your car's limits
⚠️ You often can't feel a run-flat go down, so take the warning light seriously
⚠️ Many manufacturers advise against repairing a run-flat once it's been driven deflated, so it usually needs replacing
✅ Cars with run-flats often have no spare wheel, so don't push your luck on a long trip
🚫 Don't carry on past the limit or at motorway speeds

Got a warning light near Kentish Town station or a slow leak outside your flat in Camden? Tell us the tyre size and we'll come to you, check it, and repair it if it's within the safe limits or fit a replacement if not.

🚗 Hackney driving can quietly add to your running costs.

Around Hackney Central, Mare Street, Dalston, London Fields, Victoria Park, Homerton and Hackney Wick, stop-start traffic, repeated braking and acceleration, cycle-lane-heavy streets, residential parking and delivery traffic on the A10 Kingsland Road and A107 all put extra demands on your vehicle.

Rolling resistance is the energy needed to keep a tyre turning. It is one of the ratings shown on the EU tyre label. Choosing a tyre with a better fuel-efficiency rating may help with running costs over its life, but the label should be balanced against how you use your vehicle. A harder, eco-focused tyre can trade some wet grip.

Correct pressures help reduce the drag caused by a soft tyre. Removing unnecessary weight and checking tread regularly can also pay off. Worn or unevenly worn tyres may affect economy as well as safety.

Our technician can check pressures, tread, shoulders, sidewalls and valves on site, then supply and fit replacement tyres in the correct specification for cars, vans, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles at home, work or another safe location. We also offer eligible puncture repairs, 24/7 emergency tyre fitting, mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts.

🛞 Your new car came with a sealant kit instead of a spare? Know its limits.

Handy on Marylebone Road, but:
⚠️ Only for small punctures in the tread, not sidewalls or big cuts
🐢 Temporary only. Most kits say under 50mph, and get the tyre seen soon
🚫 Sealant can turn a repairable tyre into a write-off and clog pressure sensors
📅 Check the use-by date, because old sealant often fails

If you can stop safely, near Baker Street or on a side street, leave the can alone and call a mobile fitter. A proper plug-and-patch repair to British Standard BS AU 159 costs far less than a new tyre.

Choosing tyres for an SUV, 4x4 or crossover? The right type depends on how you actually use it 🚙

For regular trips through Greenwich town centre, past Cutty Sark and the Old Royal Naval College, along Trafalgar Road, the A2 or A102 Blackwall Approach, a road tyre or all-season tyre is often the more comfortable choice. Road tyres are generally quieter on tarmac, while all-season tyres aim to provide a practical compromise across changing conditions.

If your driving includes muddy fields, towing or rural lanes around Blackheath, a more aggressive all-terrain pattern may be worth considering. Bear in mind these tyres are typically louder on the road and can offer less wet-tarmac grip than road-focused designs.

Genuine winter tyres are designed for cold-weather performance. All-season tyres aim for a workable middle ground. On the sidewall, M+S and the three-peak mountain snowflake marking mean different things: M+S is a manufacturer designation, while the three-peak symbol shows the tyre has met a defined snow-performance test.

Four-wheel drive can help with traction, but it does not help a vehicle stop. Braking and cornering still depend on the tyres and driver behaviour. Important on Greenwich’s hillside residential streets and during busy weekends near Greenwich Park and Greenwich station and the DLR.

Keep tyre types matched across each axle and check with a qualified technician before mixing patterns. Our mobile technicians can supply and fit the correct specification at home, work or another safe location across SE10. We also offer eligible puncture repairs, 24/7 emergency tyre fitting, mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts for cars, vans, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles.

Tyre pressures are easy to misread, and the number on the tyre sidewall is generally a maximum, not the pressure your vehicle should normally run at. 🚗

For the correct figure, check your vehicle handbook, the door pillar, inside the fuel flap or around the filler cap. Some cars show different pressures for light and fully loaded conditions, and may list a separate rear pressure when towing.

Always check pressures when the tyres are cold. Driving heat raises them; colder weather can reduce them, while warmer weather can raise them. Slow pressure loss over several weeks can be normal, so regular checks help catch problems early.

While checking, look at the valve caps and check for cracks around the valves. An under-inflated tyre can run hotter, wear unevenly and affect grip and fuel economy. An over-inflated tyre can reduce the contact patch on the road.

Around Golders Green station, Finchley Road, Golders Green Road, North End Road, the A406 North Circular and nearby Brent Cross, our technicians can check and adjust pressures, tread, valves and sidewalls at home, work or another safe location.

We also supply and fit tyres for cars, vans, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles, offer eligible puncture repairs, 24/7 emergency callouts, mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts.

Driving an electric or hybrid around Fulham? ⚡ Your tyres work harder than you might think.

Battery packs add weight, while instant torque can put extra load through the tyres when pulling away. That can accelerate wear, making the correct pressure more important than ever. Check the vehicle guidance regularly, and make sure the tyre’s load index meets or exceeds the original specification.

EVs and hybrids are often quieter too, so road noise from a cheap or worn tyre can be more noticeable. Many also come without a spare wheel, relying on a sealant or inflation kit. These are only suitable for certain simple punctures. Sidewall damage, cuts, bulges or larger objects need proper inspection.

Check tread and sidewalls regularly, and look out for uneven wear linked to the vehicle’s extra weight. When replacement time comes, ask for a tyre suitable for your vehicle rather than simply choosing the cheapest option.

From Fulham Broadway, Fulham Road and Munster Road to Parsons Green, Putney Bridge, Craven Cottage, the A4 and A219, our mobile technicians can attend at home, work, a charge point or another safe location across SW6, even where residential parking is tight.

We supply and fit tyres for cars, vans, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles, plus eligible puncture repairs, 24/7 emergency fitting, mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts.

🚘 Forest Hill (SE23) drivers: what does the tyre pressure warning light really mean?

On vehicles fitted with TPMS, the system may monitor pressure using sensors inside the wheels, or indirectly by comparing wheel speeds through the ABS system. A warning could mean one tyre is losing air, several tyres are low, a sensor battery is failing, or the system needs recalibrating after a pressure change or wheel swap.

Don’t assume it’s a false alarm. Stop somewhere safe, look over the tyres, then check all four pressures when cold using the figures on the door plate or in the handbook. Reset the system only after the pressures are correct.

If the warning keeps appearing and clearing, a slow puncture could be the reason. Repeated top-ups are not a substitute for an inspection. This is especially useful to remember around Forest Hill station, Dartmouth Road, London Road, Honor Oak, Sydenham, the South Circular A205, hillside streets and commuter parking areas. ⚠️

Our mobile team can check pressures, tread, valves and sidewalls for leaks at home, work or another safe location. We can supply and fit tyres for cars, vans, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles, with eligible puncture repairs, 24/7 emergency fitting, mobile wheel-nut removal and roadside battery callouts also available.
