MOT EXTENSION TO FINISH 1st AUGUST..

6-month MOT exemptions will be ending on 1 August
Today, 29 June, the Department for Transport announced that the 6-month MOT exemption for cars, vans and motorcycles introduced during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, will end on 1 August.

Why is the MOT exemption ending?
We know that many garages stayed open and drivers continued to get their vehicles tested despite the exemption.

As non-essential services start to re-open in line with government guidance, and more vehicles are back on the roads, having an up-to-date MOT will help to keep vehicles safe to drive.

Remind customers to beat the rush
Invite customers with vehicles due an MOT from 1 August to book and secure a test slot.

Stay safe..
An MOT can be conducted while maintaining social distancing and we’ve provided guidance for MOT testers about operating safely.

As MOT volumes start to increase as lockdown is eased, we will be in touch about plans for our work.

If you havent had an MOT on your vehicle yet, then make sure you get in before your next deadline! its going to be an extremely busy period with not only extension MOT's but MOT's due for that period..

As the extension goes on for the MOT’s we are seeing more customers booking in as they have realised that a lot of insurance companies are not actually covering vehicles under this extension. Also today we MOT’d one of our regular customers who chose not to take the extension and we found upon inspection that both front spring had snapped and the vehicle wasn’t fit for the road. If you are taking advantage of this please be careful !

Good Morning All

We are still taking bookings for all your needs, although the government have given a 6 month extension to all MOT’s you vehicle still has to meet the requirements, all our servicing work here at J&R gives you a pre inspection for an MOT, so if your car or van is due a service or you have any other needs, please feel free to get in contact.
