Another day, another scammer.

Today a chap came in to pick up a wing for a BMW 420i.
We don't have any parts for this car.
He said his friend had been speaking to me.
Showed me a stock photo for a front wing and some Whatsapp chats. I took a Drew Abi level sigh. (IYKYK)
His friend lives in Sheffield, so thought he would send his mate to collect as he lives in Edinburgh.
The Sheffield dwelling, 420i owning man had been speaking to "The BMW PARTS SHOP" on facebook who had given him our address in Lochgelly as their establishment.
"The BMW PARTS SHOP" has been chasing them for payment of the wing. Via whatsapp. Via bank transfer. To a revolut account with a completely different name.

Luckily no harm done here other than someone's wasted morning traveling up here for a part that doesn't exist. I've tried contacting Revolut before and they're not interested. I have submitted a report to facebook but that's not going to amount to much. I could try messaging this page directly but I am going to take a wild stab in the dark and guess it'll fall on deaf ears.

All I can think of is that if you can be bothered winding these guys up, reporting them to facebook (maybe multiple reports will help), signing that mobile number up to some nonsense, then that might convince them to stop being sneaky little scamming sausages.

E46 330cd has finished getting mechanical parts removed and moves onto the 4 post ramp for interior and electrical parts stripping. Being an 06 plate sport coupe this one has some nice interior spec including

Full black interior panels
Harman Kardon speakers
Carbon cube trim set
Heated electric memory leather
Sport leather steering wheel

Typically, we don't sell cars, it's just parts here at BMW Spares Scotland. However, recently we've had quite a few enquiries (for reasons unknown) about if there were any cars for sale at all. There are quite a few cars in the "queue" for breaking and it turns out that it's a LOT easier to buy cars than it is to dismantle them and retail the parts. Who knew!

So with that in mind, let's make BMWs available for sale - they were bought for breaking but more appealing cars have been purchased since. They are all spares / repair sold without the slightest hint of warranty offered or implied. Everything will have flat batteries and everything should be removed via recovery truck / trailer.

We will eventually get to them all, and they aren't costing anything now so wouldn't want to have to listen to any negotiation-based sob stories. Could possibly do deals with them on other BMWs. These would generally need to be of the sport version, larger engined E46, Z models, F3x, F10. Generally however it is hard to get information and prices from people in this situation.

So the cars. Let's start with these 5 to choose from and see how we get on?

1. 2007 Z4 E85 LCI - base spec 2.0 N46, came in as a non runner. A replacement ECU kit and fuse box change and now runs and drives, although poorly - however it is improving as the fresher fuel put in it replaces the COAL that the former owner must have used. LCI model so has the nicer lights. Looks to be a standard car. No V5. Think about 110k. £800

2. 2005 E46 320cd - LCI model again, big spec on this car from factory including DYNAMIC Xenons, power fold mirrors, LED rears, and the full NAV pack with TV, satnav etc. Runs and drives. Smokey at startup. Guessing injectors. Broken front spring and knackered back shocks. think about 108K. loads of history, a previously well loved third car. Have V5. Likely shouldn't sell this one due to the value of the extras on it, but...£900

3. 1999 E46 328i auto saloon - M52TUB28. 116k. Standard car. Seems to run and drive fine. Horrible colour and interior combo. Have V5. £1000

4. 2014 F30 320d SE manual - 96K, oyster leather, 18s, have V5. Looks to be a standard car. Runs and drives. Rod knock and whiney turbo, standard N47N service interval life. Probably one to fix up and sell on, not that we'd ever entertain this. £1000

5. 2003 318ci. Currently being ruined by swaps for mopeds and pets on marketplace. Facelift car, purple tag rack, led rears, shell seems OK. N42 engine runs and drives but overheats. 5 speed manual. Doesn't have its coolant bottle or its underbody catalytic converter. Have V5. £600

After the discovery of Neil Dawson's secret underground cave network, we have fun and games this week for anyone visiting any / all of Cartmore Industrial Estate.

This official diversion route is definitely the best and most direct diversion and there absolutely isn't a much shorter / agricultural one which we definitely didn't take into work this morning.

⚠️EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURE - STATION ROAD, LOCHGELLY

***4th August update - Bay Travel is providing a shuttle bus while the road remains closed, between Lochgelly High School and Ballingry.

Passengers travelling to or from Glencraig, Crosshill and Lochore should use the shuttle bus to connect with Service 19 at Ballingry, where they can transfer to continue/complete their journey.

Scottish Water expect that the work will be completed by Thursday evening. We'll provide updates if anything changes.

We've been alerted to a collapsed manhole chamber in Lochgelly this morning, between the train station bridge and the high school.

The chamber is located in the middle of the carriageway, and as a result Scottish Water has had to close the road to allow repairs to be carried out safely.

At present, we don't have confirmed timescales for the repair works but will update this post with more information as soon as it becomes available.

Bus services will be affected while the road is closed - check directly with service providers for updates.

For local communities, or anyone visiting Lochore Meadows Country Park or Fife Cycle Park, the alternative route is shown below.
