H designs Vehicle solutions is a one stop shop for Bikes. we can repair, design and build them. we also build and design custom one off cars, van, bike transportation, campers, hotrods. we are bikers for bikers. Our facilities are set in the rural south Wales countryside, making it the ideal start point for anyone organising rideouts and meet ups. as bikers we can recommend routes, stop off and locations of interest. making your ideas a reality.

Crank - the axle that has peddles each end and cog in the middle to turn peddling into motion...

When we refit the crank it's important to make sure there is plenty of grease, it stops dirt and water damaging the axle

DO NOT OVER TOGHTEN THE PINCH BOLTS

Not only am I saving, I'm also getting a personal experience, not an on and out corporate answer. I know the job will be done correctly because for the little guy it's about reputation, not policy and profit.

To Torque or not to torque..

BB- bottom bracket is the term used for the removable bearing housing.

When fitting a threaded BB they will need to be torqued up. Torque settings maybe difficult to fit but most will be around 35-50NM.

Torque, is the applied force put through a thread when tightening it up to lock the bolt in place with out damaging the thread. These are especially important when putting steel bolts in aluminium housing.

There is a set guidelines based on bolt size and metal grade. But most manufacturers create a list where it's applied.

You have to start somewhere...

It goes without saying to get where you want to be, you have to start, you have to take that first step.

At 17 that first step was on a train to start training to be a paratrooper, at 29 it was putting the paperwork in for a specialist course, at 39 it was starting a workshop...

Every journey starts somewhere, forget the inhibitions and take that step, it may change your life forever.

Also how beautiful is the M3 at sunset on a nice day...

my idea of a good night out...

spending a couple of days training and out in the camper van, after all I'm still in recovery from a kidney transplant just over 8weeks ago.

Stop and go!!

Brakes and peddles.

These should definitely be part of your regular maintenance stuff.

The same principle for mountain bike brake calipers applies to car and motorcycle ones. Clean, clean, clean.
