Wishing everyone a joyous 4th of July! Today, as we honor American independence, I'd like to reflect on the incredible transformation of our 1954 Chevrolet 3800.

From near scrap to its current tidy state, this journey has been a labor of love and hard work. While we missed the stars and stripes event at Tatton Park this weekend due to our 70-year-old engine not wanting to drive another mile, we're excited for a full engine restoration this winter that will bring it back to its former glory.

HUGE Thank you to the AA for safely towing us 80 miles home. As we celebrate freedom, let's cherish the progress we've made and continue to revive the beauty of classic American trucks.

Happy Independence Day! 🎉

We have a bit of news to share regarding our much-anticipated journey to Tatton Park this weekend. Alas, it seems the stars (& stripes) weren't aligned in our favor, and our beloved classic Chevy had other plans. Just when we were only 30 miles away from the show, it decided to throw a curveball, spluttering to a complete halt and refusing to drive another inch. Sometimes these vintage beauties have a mind of their own!

However, every cloud has a silver lining, and we're turning this setback into an opportunity for a major overhaul. We're determined to ensure this resilient Chevy receives the royal treatment it deserves. Our next venture will involve a comprehensive engine refurbishment and a much-needed clutch face upgrade. With these improvements, we'll be ready to tackle any road and conquer future adventures with style.

On a positive note, we want to express my sincere gratitude to Rick from the AA recovery for his outstanding assistance. He went above and beyond, ensuring a safe journey back home. The AA truly provides a remarkable service, and we can't thank them enough for their reliability and professionalism. Even though he was a bit nervous of towing such a long and vehicle. (And it was just under the SWL of the trailer so we were good to go.)

Now, let's talk plans! We've got an exciting roadmap in the makingfor the Chevy, but also the Dodge and even the short Chevy is getting a look in. Stay tuned for further updates as we dive into these thrilling projects. (and we've made plans for the secret project too.... im sure all will be revealed soon!)

Remember, setbacks are just temporary bumps on the road of restoration. We remain dedicated to breathing new life into these iconic vehicles!

Breaking news from the Anglesey restorers, After countless trials and errors, we've achieved a major victory today, the emergency/park brake is finally operational on our trusty old truck. Say goodbye to nerve-wracking hill starts, as this game-changer will make them a breeze. Looks like I can cancel that surgery for a third leg after all! 😄

But wait, there's more! Brace yourselves for an adrenaline-fueled weekend at the Tatton Park Stars and Stripes Classic American Vehicle Show. The old truck, with its 70-year-old tired engine, is set to conquer the long drive and arrive at the event in style. We'll be burning through oil and gas like there's no tomorrow, but the spirit of this beast knows no limits.

In our ongoing quest for perfection, we've also taken on the challenge of tinkering with the vacuum wipers. They're putting up a valiant effort, but can they withstand a heavy downpour? Not taking any chances here, so we'll be Rain-Xing the glass to ensure crystal-clear visibility on our wild journey.

Hold onto your hats, folks, because we have some grand plans for this Chevy in the upcoming months. A full engine and clutch refurbishment are in the works, promising a roaring revival of power. And guess what? Electric wipers will soon be added to the mix, bringing a touch of modern convenience to this vintage marvel.

Now, here's a bit of a twist in our adventure. Sadly, the Dodge won't be joining us this year as initially anticipated. Tracking down those elusive engine parts is taking longer than expected. But fear not! Next year, it will make a triumphant entrance, potentially flaunting something intriguing on its back... Yes, you heard it right! More details on that exciting surprise will be revealed soon, so stay tuned!

Join us on this exhilarating journey as we push the limits of classic vehicle restoration. The road ahead may be bumpy, but we're fueled by passion, determination, and a love for all things vintage. Buckle up, (if you have seatbelts.... The Chevy does not!) — it's going to be an unforgettable ride!

With just 3 weeks left to go, the Chevy will be making it's way over to tatton park very slowly and very carefully. Let's hope it can make it!

Next job on the Chevy is going to be a full engine and clutch rebuild after this show. It might take a little while, but hopefully I'll have it ready by the Christmas fair. Hoping to do a Christmas tree and lights show this Christmas.

What an incredible weekend at the Anglesey Vintage Rally! Our Chevy truck and British Anzani were shining stars among the huge variaty of amazing classic vehicles on display. From commercial lorries and cars, tractors and motorbikes, steam engines and staric engines, and even pushbikes and caravans, it was a sight to behold.

A big thank you to the organizers for putting together such a fantastic event and to all the wonderful people who attended. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the entire weekend was an absolute blast from start to finish.

We had so much fun showcasing our beloved classics in the ring and interacting with fellow enthusiasts. The atmosphere was electric, and the shared passion for vintage vehicles was truly inspiring.

We're already counting down the days until next year's rally, and I'm excited to announce that we might even bring the Dodge along for the ride next year! It's going to be an even more incredible experience, and we can't wait to create more memories with fellow classic car lovers.

A huge thank you once again to everyone involved, and let's keep the spirit of vintage vehicles alive!

I'm sure there will be some photos up soon that I'll share as soon as they come up.

So, on the Dodge, we need to get the kingpins off, they're rattling around like mad.

And to do this, we need to take the wheel hubs, bearings, drums, brakes, steering system and a while heap of other things....

I'm going to need a bigger spanner (literally!)

Great news! (So far). The Dodge engine looks like it's in good condition. The engineering works are going to clean it up and it should be running in no time.

They're also going to re face the clutch and check the gearbox for me while it's there.

Looking forward to seeing this engine back in and running.

I've also got the front springs off and they'll be ready for new bushes and pins soon. It wasn't easy, the pins were so loose they were turning in their sockets, but we got it off.

Turns out the leaf springs are out of shape on the front of this Dodge.

Off it comes!

Wasn't too difficult, but the U-bolts were extremely tight... So much so it's actually snapped the rubber bumper bracket.

Never mind, it's off now, hopefully someone will be able to repair the spring for me and bring it back to a shape that matches the other side... It's a whole inch out, meaning that the front drivers side was lower and making the cab look uneven.
