This Peugeot has been in with us at DriveLine Vehicle Services today with a major wet belt issue. 😣

Lack of regular servicing has caused the wet belt to crack and deteriorate, with belt material beginning to break down and block the oil feed.

🚨 It’s not just about tread depth! 🚨

Take a look at this Continental tyre. At first glance, the tread may still look usable, but the sidewall tells a very different story.

This tyre was manufactured in 2020 and has developed severe sidewall cracking due to age and deterioration.

Tyres naturally perish over time. Constant exposure to sunlight (UV rays), oxygen, changing temperatures, moisture, and everyday use causes the rubber to harden, dry out, and lose its flexibility. As this happens, cracks can develop, weakening the tyre’s structure and increasing the risk of a sudden failure or blowout.

That’s why checking your tyres isn’t just about measuring tread depth. A proper tyre inspection should also look for:
✔️ Sidewall cracking
✔️ Bulges or damage
✔️ Uneven wear
✔️ Correct tyre pressures
✔️ The tyre’s age and overall condition
