North Wales Classic Bike Restorations

North Wales Classic Bike Restorations This is a service aimed at supporting the continued use of classic motorcycles. Whilst not free of charge labour costs are kept to a minimum.

North Wales Classic Bike Restorations is a result of 40 years association, fixing and riding motorcycles. I retired in January 2013 and set about finishing some of the projects I had stored up over the years. I have found a new vocation putting all the experience and know how into practice with the added benefit of time on my hands. I aim for top end restorations but will work to the aspirations o

f the owner of any commissioned work. I have a particular passion for Yamaha two strokes and big Hondas from the 70's and 80's.

Ahh bliss!
My winters work is near completion with 2 nice little bikes ready to come off the operating table. The stuff in the foreground is the innards from a CBX1000 ready for cleaning and checking before an engine rebuild but that's another story.

A pleasant afternoon!

Aqua blasted, new gearbox bearings, new seals, a reconditioned crank and rebore.

I love these little bikes, should be running by the end of next week after its full nut and bolt restoration.

Hope the weather holds out long enough to let me iron out any issues out on the road.

Got them!!
I never tire of getting my hands on old stock. I have been chasing a set of original shocks for my two CBX1000z restoration projects for nearly 4 years now and what do you know I get 5x NOS dampers and a single complete NOS shock all at the same time yippppeee!

A different carb to the norm today!

This is from a 1957 BSA 250 C12 that has been under a sheet for 40 years. They don't make them like they used to, caused me no problem whatsoever!

A change from my favoured 2 stroke machine with my first attempt at an electrically powered Honda cafe racer!

I have been asked a few times about removing rust from petrol tanks so I will add this one as a handy tip later in the week.

Another little Yamaha 2 stroke brought back to life. Restoration on this model is difficult to manage due to the costs involved and the final value of the bike due to the general preference for the RD400 model and the RD250E models. A good basis (someone else had started a quality refurb before I got it) goes a long way to help avoid compromising the final finish. This restoration included a full engine rebuild (see other album)

Just wheeled the VF1000R out for the first time in 10 months.

All work is now complete and the bike is ready for its MOT. Should be back with the owner as soon as he is able to pick it up.

I am going to do a video later of the bike running and e mail it to him as a pick me up during the working week.

There are load more photos in the VF1000R album.

My favourite time the start of an engine rebuild. I just love these two strokes the 250D is by far the most rewarding and relaxing one to do. Surprisingly this set of cylinders have never been tinkered with and remain standard other than the re-bore. Crank and bore done by PJ Motorcycle Engineering in Wolverhampton. Ultrasonic cleaning, new bearings and seals throughout.
