Tyre faults are one of the biggest causes of UK car accidents — and almost all of them give plenty of warning if you know what to look for. The new blog walks through tread depth, pressures, sidewall damage, ageing rubber, slow punctures and what uneven wear is trying to tell you.

The 20p test is genuinely useful and takes about ten seconds per tyre. If the outer band of the coin disappears into the tread, you are above 3mm. If you can see it, the tyre is getting close to the limit.
