MOT RETEST RULES AND TIME FRAMES FROM MAY 2026

An MOT retest can be free or cost a partial fee if carried out within 10 working days of the initial failure at the same test centre.

• Free Retest (Same Day/End Of Next Working Day): If you leave the vehicle for repairs or bring it back before the end of the next working day, the retest is usually free if covered under the free re-test items.
• Partial Retest Fee (Within 10 Working Days): If you take the car away for repairs and return it within 10 working days, you only pay a partial fee which is 50% of the initial MOT fee.
• Full Retest (>10 Working Days): If you return after 10 working days, you must pay the full MOT fee again.
• All retests need to be booked with us as a diary appointment and are subject to availability.
