🧑‍🌾🙏 Farming For Good 🙏🧑‍🌾

After 10 years of experimentation I have finally come up with a system that works for the good of the planet, nature, soil, people and the farmer.

I have written a short overview of this system that I am hoping to have published in a national magazine soon. I will put a link on here if it does get picked up.

I will continue to work on getting a more detailed version down on paper and will let you know if this ever comes to fruition.

Moving forward, I plan to travel the world to study all the great work that is being done through/alongside agriculture on this mission to "farm for good".

This is just the beginning. Make sure you follow to watch this story unfold.

With a heavy heart we have decided to part ways with our fantastic SUMO DD. Please DM me if interested.

SUMO DD 4m fixed disc drill, 2016, grain and fert.

2016 – Serial Number AF 181

4m fixed SUMO DD mounted drill. Front and back hopper with separate metering for grain and fert, or duel cropping. An ultra-low disturbance drill with straw clearers for r**e drilling. The angled opener disc cuts through any surface trash and penetrates the soil well, a tong then lightly pushes the seed to the bottom of the opening and the angled cogged closer knits the soil back together over the seed. Discs and Coulters changed a year ago. Good condition.

🌻 Flower Margins 🌻

We have 4m flower margins around most of our fields. They encourage beneficials, biodiversity, disease and "w**d" barriers and much more.

We will be extending these margins to the whole farm next year.

First year of Soya. Thoughts so far - the pigeons bloody love it 😬

This is a bit of an experiment. If it can not be grown without Insecticides and Fungicides, then it won't have a place on the farm. I am hoping to grow it with our 'regenerative/environmental faming' ethos. I have already experimented with 'Orange Oil' instead of a pre-emergence insecticide for Delia Fly, so we will see if the gamble pays off.

We've been getting some pea drilling done. We don't normally like to roll after the drill, as it's an extra pass and can encourage w**ds, but with no ran on the horizon, it's a no brainer.

The field had a cover crop that was grazed with sheep and then left to regrow. We will spray off a few days after drilling.

Instead of spraying our wheat with growth regulators and early nutrition for root development and tillering, we are rolling instead. Hopefully this will bring us the same results without the need for chemicals 🤞.
