In order to combat "Ghost" MOT's (testing vehicles that are not present) the DVSA are starting the national roll out of MOT photos at test.
"MOT is one of the most trusted safety checks on UK roads, and we want to keep it that way. Photos at Test will help us protect that credibility by tackling MOT fraud - and following two successful trials, we're confident the time is right to roll this out nationally".
"During the trial, over 60,000 images were uploaded by over 300 garages. After reviewing test times, we found taking photos at test has caused no disruption to the MOT".
"From 3 August 2026, we will begin rolling out photos at test to an extra 2,500 garages".
The most important aspect for our customers is obviously number plates and their legal requirement.
