YOUR TYRES CAN HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD AND STILL NEED REPLACING

Tread depth is important, but it isn’t the only thing that determines whether a tyre is safe.

As tyres age, the rubber can deteriorate and become harder, even when the car hasn’t covered many miles. You should also keep an eye out for:

• Cracks or perishing in the sidewall
• Bulges, cuts or other visible damage
• Uneven wear across the tyre
• Signs the rubber is beginning to deteriorate

So, if your car doesn’t do many miles, don’t assume plenty of tread automatically means your tyres are in good condition.

MOT DUE SOON? DON’T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE

If your MOT is coming up, it’s worth getting your test booked in early rather than waiting until the week it expires.

You can have your MOT carried out up to one month (minus a day) before it expires and still keep the same renewal date.

Booking ahead means:
More choice of appointment times
Less last-minute stress
Time to deal with any repairs if they’re needed
No risk of suddenly finding yourself without a valid MOT

Last week was a good one in the workshop. We celebrated Kyle’s birthday with a suitably chocolatey cake, while apprentice Cody took delivery of his new Snap-on toolbox. 👌

There’s something about getting your own toolbox that feels like a bit of a milestone when you’re learning the trade!

Your tyres are the only part of your vehicle that touches the road. Make sure they're up to the job. 🚗

Worn tyre tread can significantly reduce grip, increase stopping distances and make driving in wet conditions much more dangerous.

Keep an eye out for:
✔️ Low tread depth
✔️ Uneven wear
✔️ Cracks or damage
✔️ Loss of grip, especially in the rain
