Report and Results Round 6
The Owen MC Graham Hill Sprint saw a similar entry to last year’s event with 50, and the weather certainly played ball. The Owen MC classic car club members were a great attraction. As per this years’ Championship regulations all timed runs counted for Championship points.
The standard car classes as usual got the meeting started, with a Class Sa MGZR dice and a win for John Denman from Vicky Kemp in her second ever event. The Adam Slam of Andy Jones took 3rd.
Class Sb saw the family C2VTS scrap go to Jenson Butlin, from Dad Glynn for a change this year.
Paul Glendenning won class Sc in his Clio Sport beating the two MX5’s.
The smaller road going Class 1a, saw a win and new Class Record for Steve Barrow in the Ecoboost Fiesta, with the mini’s of Tom Bishop and Graham Harvey 2nd and 3rd respectively.
For the third event in a row Mike Gardiner’s Clio Sport set a new class record in 1b up to 2.0L Class, with Alex Bold second in his Fiat Abarth.
A huge 1C class entry, had the Porsche Cayman of Lee Bradford sealing the win, ahead of Anthony Ashcroft’s BMW Mini Cooper S. Third and fourth respectively were the Caymans of Ian Poole and Nick Pollitt. Liam Meredith’s BMW Z4 took 5th, with the ever improving Yaris GR4 of Ivor Williams was 6th, and the ever entertaining 325i of Paul Meridith 7th!
In Class 3a the Mod prod Mini battle went to Warwick Barber, from Alan Henley in second, and Richard Raybould in third.
Dan Whitman claimed a 2nd place in his first outing of the year in the Nova, behind the Scirocco of Ian Carvell in the larger mod prod class, 3b.
In 3C, Michael Jackson returned with a win and PB in the Porsche 911, (and the Best presented car Award), even though it still needs a suspension set up! Charlotte Ward took 2nd from Dad Andrew in the shared MX5 turbo, and also claimed the Ladies Award.
Mike White took FTD in his Empire 1100 on his only run, just before engine issues sadly ended his event early, with a 52.04sec run.
With a short break until the next SDCC round on July 5th, the remaining 5 events are all still looking to get a few more entries, so please get those entries in early.
