Something a bit different here. Both door locks failed on a very well looked after 2005 VW Golf Plus.

As you can see this is one of the only cars wherby the door skin has to be removed for access to the components inside. An odd idea that didn't continue in later models.

All stripped down and two brand new locks from VW TPS fitted, the central locking system is now good as new.

This lovely VW Golf R came in with a nasty whine from the rear — classic sign of a failing differential on this model.

Rather than just replace the diff, we agreed to swap the entire rear subframe assembly. Fresh differential with the uprated suspension components, all stripped, cleaned and rebuilt properly — not bodged.
Followed up by 4-wheel bluetooth wheel alignment.

Peugeot, Citroen and Vauxhall are using what is known at a wet timing belt in their 1.2 petrol engine vehicles. These belts are immersed in engine oil and subsequently the degradation of the belt material over time is higher than a normal timing belt. We are now carrying out replacement of several of these here at Ashtons. These are being done before the manufactures interval to avoid major engine damage. The rear workshop has had a new ramp installed this week. Groundworks courtesy of Branwhite Builders Ltd allowed safe anchorage of our new 2 post lift which is safely capable of lifting upto 4 tonne vehicles, whilst having the ability to lift vehicles with a very low ride height. Thanks also to Ridgway Engineering Ltd for the installation.
The workshop is still as busy as ever so please book as early as possible to avoid disappointment. MOT season is in full swing now!

👏 We are pleased to announce a new member of our team👏

A warm welcome to our new mechanic William.
A highly skilled technician who has long been a friend of the family is finally able to join our team now the time is right for both of us.
He brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding in the automotive industry and race car preparation/maintenance.
Will has worked in the industry many years and his most recent role was at a VW/Audi group specialist in Milton Keynes.
General repair and maintenance, VW group specialist, Honda specialist and enthusiast and an in depth knowledge of electrical work and aftermarket installations.
He is also a keen club race car driver, so we know he will fit in just fine 🙂
All of us are confident this relationship will bring a lot more to the table at Ashton's Workshop and in due course we will be able to offer more services with his skill set.

We are still incredibly busy(but hoping this news will help workload) so please book as early as possible.

It's been a busy year so far after becoming an MOT testing station in February.
Here is a few snippets of the work we have had the last two weeks. Mini clutches, MOT crazy including a lovely 1999 Honda Civic Type 'R', headlight installation on a Nissan Micra and lots of wheel alignment checks and adjustments.
We have invested heavily this year not only with our MOT bay but lots of new diagnostic equipment and induction heaters to name a few.

We can service any car new or old, even if it is still under manufacturers warranty.
We have dealer level diagnostic equipment for most makes and models.
Full 4 wheel alignment facilities.
Digital service records can be updated by us as we have access to these

Please, please, please give us as much booking notice as possible we are running at about a 3 week lead time at the moment
