We’ve appointed Paul Merchant as Head of Waste and Industrial, bringing experience from both sides of specialist vehicle hire.

Paul has worked in large-scale industrial plant hire, helping customers source everything from everyday fleet requirements to highly specialist equipment.

He has also been responsible for running a large waste fleet himself.

That combination is exactly what Managing Director Lennon Compton wanted as Tanker Rent UK continues to grow its waste and industrial business.

As Lennon says in our latest update, Paul understands the work our customers carry out, why vehicle specification matters, and what operators need from a hired unit once it arrives.

Paul will work directly with customers while helping shape the vehicles and equipment we bring into the fleet.

Really pleased to have Paul Merchant on board at Tanker Rent UK Ltd, heading up our Waste & Industrial division.

He’s only been with us a few weeks but has already hit the ground running, with a few deals done and plenty more in the pipeline.

We’ve been putting our money where our mouth is too, with some significant investment in jet vacs and recyclers as we continue to build the waste and industrial side of the fleet.

Paul brings a huge amount of knowledge and experience in the industry. He’s already brought plenty of ideas and opportunities to the business.

It’s been a very busy first few weeks and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can build over the next few years.

“Demand doesn’t always stick to the fleet plan.”

That’s one of the points our Director, Lennon Compton, discusses in a new Water Jetting Association Member Spotlight on Tanker Rent UK.

A new contract can start before another vehicle can be sourced. A tanker can be unexpectedly off the road. Workload can increase quickly. And sometimes a job needs specialist equipment that simply doesn’t make commercial sense to own for occasional use.

Lennon talks about how that is changing the role of tanker hire, and why operators are becoming much more specific about the vehicles they want.
Configuration, controls, access, usability and how the vehicle performs day to day all matter. That feedback also helps shape the equipment we choose to add to the Tanker Rent fleet.

More waste capacity, without sending a second vehicle for washdown.

This 4,200-gallon RCV Ultra Vac is built for jobs where suction and payload are the priority, but the operator still needs clean water and high-pressure jetting on board.

With 3,800 gallons of debris capacity, 400 gallons of clean water and a 120m jetting hose, it can remove liquid waste and sludge, wash down the working area and deal with lighter jetting work using one vehicle.

It gives operators more waste capacity than a full combination unit, with more capability than a basic vacuum tanker.
