Swapping diesel for electric doesn't mean swapping capability.

The Isuzu D-Max eDL40 still tows 3.5 tonnes, still carries a 1 tonne payload, still goes anywhere a diesel D-Max goes. The only real difference is what's under the bonnet.

We came across a great piece from 's archives on Bob Gerard, and it's full of good stories.

There's the one about his first Land's End Trial as a young man, when his father was so unimpressed with how the family Riley handled a notorious hill that he winched the car up to the same angle back at the workshop and ran the engine flat out just to see what would happen.

Then there's 1946, his first proper ERA outing at the Ulster Trophy, where he found himself leading the opening lap ahead of Prince Bira and Reg Parnell and could barely believe it himself. He went on to win the British Empire Trophy in the Isle of Man three times, and finished second in the 1949 British Grand Prix behind the works Maserati of Baron de Graffenried, a result he looked back on with real pride.

By 1957 he was still racing at Aintree, in a car that caught fire twice during the same Grand Prix and managed to run over a fellow driver's toes in the pits for good measure.

Worth a read if you've got ten minutes and fancy some proper Leicestershire motor racing history!

Bigger engine. Same reliability.

The new Isuzu D-Max is in the show room! A 2.2-litre turbo diesel now, with 400Nm of torque, up from 360Nm, plus a refreshed interior and a few styling updates.

Still the D-Max that gets the job done, just with a bit more under the bonnet.

Come and see it for yourself and have a test drive this week.
