2016 Mercedes cla220 7 speed semi auto.
Customer complains of stalling and and a lack of power , p0339 crank shaft positioning code present.
Checked signal data from the back of the crankshaft sensor which was working but indeed sporadic. Removed crankshaft sensor and found a lot of metal filings on then end which could effect the reading, cleaned but still the same.
Removed starter motor, found a chunk of metal, inspected the pick up teeth on the flywheel noticed a couple were bent !

Removed gear box , inspected around the flywheel/clutch pack area, lots of metal debris but no culprit, I presume they are off the old starter motor which was changed prior to coming to me. Cleaned out all debris and also replaced spigot bearing, which was a pain to remove (had to weld a threaded bar to it to remove from the crankshaft)
Reinstalled gearbox etc and road tested vehicle , performance perfect and no codes present !
