🥶🚗 WINTER IS COMING... IS YOUR CAR READY? 🔧❄️

It's that time of year again!

The mornings are getting colder, the heaters are going on, and before long we'll all be scraping ice off our windscreens while questioning our life choices at 7am! 😂

But while we're digging out the winter coats, spare a thought for your poor car!

🚗 Battery – Cold weather can expose a battery that's already struggling. Nobody wants that dreaded clicking sound on a freezing morning!

🚗 Tyres – Check your tread depth and pressures. Wet, icy roads and worn tyres aren't a great combination.

🚗 Brakes – Squealing, grinding or unusual braking? Don't wait until the roads get slippery to have them checked.

🚗 Lights – Darker mornings and evenings mean working lights are more important than ever.

🚗 Fluid levels – Make sure your coolant has the correct antifreeze protection and your screenwash is suitable for freezing temperatures.

Replacement rear brake discs and pads, along with a new offside rear brake caliper.

This one certainly kept us busy!

Following a cracked valve on cylinder 1, the work included:

🚗🔧 REPAIR SPOTLIGHT: SUZUKI SWIFT

A big job involving some very important little pipes! 👀

This Suzuki Swift was recently in the DS Motors workshop for a complete brake pipe replacement.

🔧 ALL brake pipes replaced!

Brake pipes might not be something you give much thought to, but they play a vital role in your vehicle's braking system.

They carry pressurised brake fluid, allowing the brakes to operate when you press the pedal.

⚠️ Over time, metal brake pipes can corrode, particularly with exposure to road salt, moisture and the good old British weather! 🌧️

Severe corrosion can weaken the pipes, potentially causing brake fluid leaks and reduced braking performance.

Replacing an entire set is no five-minute job, but when it comes to brakes, safety is never something to compromise on.

🚗🔧 FORD B-MAX WET BELT REPLACEMENT 🔧🚗

Not all important vehicle repairs are visible from the outside!

This Ford B-Max recently came into DS Motors Leeds LTD for some essential mechanical work.

🔧 Wet belt replacement

🔧 Clutch master cylinder replacement

So, what's a wet belt and why is it important?

Unlike a traditional timing belt that runs dry, a wet belt operates within the engine and is lubricated by engine oil.

Over time, these belts can deteriorate. If left unchecked, deterioration can lead to serious engine problems and potentially costly repairs.

Correct maintenance, the appropriate engine oil and following the manufacturer's replacement recommendations are especially important.
