🔋 Not every charging problem is simply "a bad battery".

This Hyundai i30 came into DS Motors and the problem was traced to the alternator, with the clutch pulley seized.

The alternator is responsible for charging the battery while the engine is running and supplying the vehicle's electrical systems.

Once a problem develops, symptoms can include:

⚠️ Battery/charging warning light
⚠️ Electrical problems
⚠️ Unusual noises
⚠️ Difficulty starting
⚠️ Eventually, a car that won't keep running

This one needed a new alternator, which was fitted and the vehicle was sorted. 🔧✅

If that little battery symbol appears while you're driving, don't automatically assume buying a new battery will cure it.

Get the charging system checked first.

This Ford Transit came into DS Motors this week for a new clutch and flywheel.

It's one of the larger jobs through the workshop, with the gearbox removed to access and replace the clutch and flywheel before everything is put back together and checked.

For a business, a van sitting off the road isn't just inconvenient.

It's a vehicle that isn't out earning.

🚨 ABS light on? Don't just learn to live with it.

This Ford Tourneo came into the workshop needing a rear ABS sensor replacing.

Your ABS system helps prevent the wheels locking during hard braking, and those little wheel-speed sensors provide information the system needs to work correctly.

A warning light doesn't automatically tell you which part needs replacing, though.

That's where proper diagnosis comes in. 🔧

This Focus came into DS Motors for a major service, along with a new bonnet catch and lock.

The major service included:

✔️ Engine oil & oil filter
✔️ Air filter
✔️ Pollen filter
✔️ Spark plugs
✔️ Front wipers

Regular servicing isn't just about changing the oil. It's an opportunity to keep on top of the things your car needs before little problems have chance to become expensive ones.

Mechanics need another qualification nobody tells you about...

🎓 Fluent in Customer Car Noises.

"It goes sort of clunk-clunk when I turn left..."

"It's a squeak, but only on Tuesdays..."

"It stopped doing it as soon as I pulled into your garage." 😑😂

When a warning light appears on your dashboard, which one are you?

A) Pull over and Google it immediately 📱
B) "I'll get that checked tomorrow..."
C) If the car still moves, we're fine. 😂
D) Turn it off and back on again and hope for the best.

Your tyres are the only part of your car actually touching the road. 🛞

Yet they're probably one of the things we forget to check most often.

Every now and then, take two minutes to look for:

✔️ Tread depth
✔️ Cracks or damage
✔️ Bulges
✔️ Uneven wear
✔️ Correct tyre pressures

And don't just check the driver's side.

We've seen plenty of tyres that look perfectly fine from one angle but tell a very different story when properly inspected.

Two minutes. Four tyres. Worth doing. 👍
