Another OMS in for an ECU set-up 😎
This brand new OMS25 is powered by a 1600cc Hayabusa unit and controlled by DTA T8+ ECU.
The owner was keen to make rounds 7&8 of the British Hillclimb Championship at Shelsley Walsh over the weekend, and despite some teething issues making that seem unlikely at points, all stops were pulled out allowing him to make the event and get in some great runs!

It got the works of Croft Power Magic including steady-state calibration of ignition timing and fueling, fine tuning of full-load, and transient corrections; all to combine not only optimum peak power/torque, but progressive and smooth delivery for all pedal positions - its not all about WOT, even on racers!

Feedback on engine performance from the hill was excellent, so no doubt there will be plenty of smiles for the rest of the season....good luck Pete!

Out with the old, in with the new 🤓

I originally completed a full mapping session on Nicholas Sanders Duratec powered Fisher Fury about 12 months ago, when it was running on an Omex 500 ECU. This was a great ECU in its day, but being developed approx. 30years ago, it is now quite old technology!
All was fine, aside from some annoying low speed driveability issues, which due to the limitations of the dated software I could not calibrate around.

Nick recently came back to give his pretty Fury a new lease of life, with a focus on a quality driving experience - after some discussions about options we decided to fit a Motorsport Electronics Limited new generation ME221. We went for a wire-in harness for ease of installation, and as per usual with ME products, it was well designed using quality materials, making the whole process pain free.

Once installed, I completed a full set-up and calibration:

✅Base setting configuration
✅Sensor and actuator check
✅Steady state optimisation
✅Transient and full-load optimisation
✅Corrections
✅Cold Start and warm
✅Driveability

The result is impressive: a car which now starts, drives, performs and feels like it came from a factory - quality all round 😎😎

First car in the new (and almost complete 😁) dyno cell!
This lovely LCD Hawke is fitted with a Ford Pinto, plus ITB's, and controlled by a Motorsport Electronics ME221.

The owner decided to move to more sophisticated engine management to improve reliability, as well as driveability and power delivery.

It went through a complete dyno session covering both steady state and transient calibration, in the end making some healthy and useable torque / power.

Needless to say the owner was very happy with the end result 😎😎

More Hillclimb prep from this week😍

Owen Pritchard brought his R53 Mini Cooper S in for custom ECU tuning, to ensure all is running right after upgrading hardware and with the aim of improving torque and driveability for competing.

He had already fitted a 15% reduction supercharger drive pulley and Newman cams. Ahead of tuning we discussed fitting higher capacity injectors to ensure sufficient headroom in fuel control, knowing the stock units could be on their limits. We settled on the injectors from the John Cooper Works model, as they are a direct swap and require only minor software changes.

The first job was to run it up on the dyno in an "as is" condition, to give a baseline specifically on fuel / lambda control. From that I swapped out the stock injectors for the JCW units and flashed the required calibration changes, then repeated some ramp runs. This is an important step to confirm that the injector swap is transparent and that there is no unexpected shift in lambda - all was good 😁

From there I could set about tuning towards torque / power increase, modifying the necessary airpath, fuel and ignition parameters. Changes are also made to improve part load performance, its not always all about full-load!

In the end we gained a very impressive torque increase through the majority of the engine speed range, as well as taking peak power to 229bhp.
This looks great on the graphs, but the real acid test is on the track - feedback from Shelsley Walsh over the weekend was extremely positive, with a handful of PB's being set - well done Owen!

Its always great to see returning customers!

A Hayabusa 1400cc powered OMS2000 getting ready for the season ahead.

This one came in for a full set-up of the MBE ECU.
Once steady-state calibration was completed I was able to put it through its paces using the track simulation function on the dyno.
This lets us adjust and verify transient fuel correction and flat-shifting without having to get on the tarmac - sounds pretty impressive too 😎

Another classic on the dyno :)

This beautifully recently rebuilt Mini Mayfair with a BMW K1200 head converted A series, with the addition of ITB's, was brought in for a full set up on the SCS Delta ECU.

It got the full Croft Power works:

✅Steady state calibration of fuel and ignition
✅Optimise full load for best power & torque
✅Transient corrections
✅Cold start

Its a great example of a well cherished classic which has been lovingly restored by its enthusiast owner, which now starts, drives and performs like a modern car!
