Ode to the Rust Beneath

In the quiet underbelly where the road grit sleeps,
Where springs coil tight and the old wishbone keeps,
A bloom begins — not of flowers, but of fate,
A reddish‑brown whisper that never comes late.

It creeps like time on forgotten steel,
A slow, patient hunger you can almost feel.
Flakes like autumn leaves drift down with a sigh,
As the MOT man narrows his eye.

Yet there’s beauty in the battle, in the scars of the frame,
In the years of wet roads that never play tame.
For every speck of rust is a story told —
Of miles, of winters, of drivers bold.
