This one was a long ol' slog - replacing the dated 1960's door surround on this property in Castleford! 😩
I thought the cut off saw would make relatively light work of it, until I found that it had an excessive amount of rebar within.. Though I say excessive, things aren't built like this anymore, and the actual structure and condition of it was perfect, I'd say as good as the day it was built.
Still, things change and styles move on - out with the old and in with the new.
I was a bit surprised to find the left support was integral to the brickwork as opposed to being external, so a mortar infill it is, and once it's had a coat of white masonry paint all around as was always the plan, will look a lot fresher than it has in years!
For now, a few cold ones and a bit of down time 🍻 ⚽ 🍻 ⚽
